We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to play a leading role in a cutting-edge interdisciplinary and multi-institute research project: Developing a risk assessment and communication platform to translate climate projections to policy. The successful candidate will work with Associate Professor Terry van Gevelt (Singapore Management University), Professor Winston Chow (Singapore Management University), Professor Adam Switzer (Nanyang Technological University), Associate Professor Sonny Rosenthal (Nanyang Technological University) and Associate Professor Brian McAdoo (Duke University) to develop a climate risk and communication platform for Singapore and other major cities in Southeast Asia. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in advancing our understanding of climate risk reduction and developing novel communication strategies to translate climate science to policy in Singapore and the region.

The successful candidate will:

• Conduct research to identify key climate risks in Singapore and other major cities in Southeast Asia;
• Examine instances of successful adaptation or maladaptation, and path dependencies in climate risk reduction approaches;
• Contribute to the development of a climate risk communication platform built around immersive virtual reality narratives;
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, policymakers, and other stakeholders to translate research findings into actionable policies and practices;
• Publish research findings in high-impact interdisciplinary journals and present at international conferences;
• Mentor and collaborate with graduate and undergraduate students.

This research project is supported by the National Research Foundation, Singapore, and the National Environment Agency under the Climate Impact Science Research Funding Initiative (Award No. CISR-2023-1R-22).
