About the Role
To be responsible for supporting all aspects of commercial, procurement and contract management activity within the Commercial Systems and Strategy Team.
To provide support to the C,P&CM team to deliver effective procurement, with a focus on improving quality, maximising savings, increasing spend with local suppliers and increasing targeted employment and training opportunities.
To support in the assessment of current spend, procurement activity, opportunity identification and realisation of benefits.
To support the delivery of the strategic contract management functions, covering the review and risk management of key strategic/critical contracts, suppliers and markets, and advising the Council on main risks and how to mitigate these.
To promote the Council’s vision, values, aims, objectives, and priorities actively and effectively, putting our citizens first through the delivery of best value services.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- IT skills with an ability to use Microsoft Access and Excel to produce reports and evaluate data
- Ability to use service specific software (eg: eTendering portal, Oracle financial software) to input data and follow workflows, ensuring accurate recording of information
- Good analytical and problem solving skills to be able to make suggestions to improve processes and help service areas with their work requests
- Be adaptable to change whilst working in a busy challenging environment, managing a high workload at times
- Have a working knowledge of procurement processes and the Council's role in procuring goods, services and works
- Ability to use your own initiative to make decisions relating to procurement issues
