A day in the life of a Murphy Senior Utility Surveyor

- Undertaking of high-quality utility surveys in a variety of environments using the latest EM and GPR technologies and equipment available.
- Site visits and client meetings to assist in job quotations and tendering stage of larger projects.
- Advising projects in the wider business on best survey methods to meet project requirements.
- Handling, processing, and interpreting geospatial data within the sub-surface environment
- Supporting other team members and survey specialisms of the Geomatics team as and when required.
- Using your survey knowledge and experience to help influence, shape and evolve the utility survey capability as a core service within the geomatics team to sit alongside the other established survey specialisms.
- Engaging with and developing your own skillsets in similar survey specialisms to be able to provide project support to other team members as and when required, such as 3D Laser Scanning, UAV Surveying, Rail Surveying & Monitoring, Dimensional Control & Setting Out.
- QCF3/QCF5 highly desirable but not a requirement
- Strong knowledge of the principles and practices of GPR and underground surveying
- Ability to use EML and GPR with high proficiency
- Understanding and knowledge of PAS128
- Ability to understand and analyse asset owner record drawings

Senior Quantity Surveyor
- London/ Kentish Town/ Onsite
Would you like to join one of the UK's Best Big Companies as awarded by Best Companies? Murphy is currently recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join us in our Kentish Town office. You will be reporting into the Commercial Manager and working within our Specialist Business unit.

What you will be doing

- Manage the preparation of internal commercial and other reports as required.
- Ensure the use of cost allocation/coding which satisfies both internal and external requirements.
- Ensure that the out-turn costs on projects are monitored on a monthly basis through robust resourced and costed bottom-up forecasts.
- Management of Cost Reports to the Client with contractually compliant supporting documentation.
- Management of the production of material for Year End Audit.
- Identify, mitigate and manage key risks and opportunities for a portfolio of work
- Ensure subcontract and material procurement schedules are prepared and updated.
- Drafting of complex subcontracts including Professional Services Agreements.


Who we are looking for

- We are looking for someone who has a construction background
- Assist in Work Winning Duties as required, including technical writing of PQQ responses.
- The ability to consistently apply knowledge and understanding through the development and application of new skills.
- Experience of line management, including supporting others using time management, organisational, development and IT skills
- Computer literate with strong skills in Microsoft Office Applications (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint)
- Will have commercially led a project.
