Job Type: Full Time - Permanent
The Quantity Surveyor will:
Gather competitive quotations, ensuring a completed Activity Schedule is prepared, ensuring all identified risks with potential cost implications have also been highlighted
Identify and interpret project design criteria and engage specialist sub-contractors and personnel to identify solutions for implementation
Negotiate rates/prices with subcontractors
Work closely with the contract team; ensure optimum delivery of contracts whilst exercising control of costs, procurement, and management of the supply chain
Weekly NEC reporting on the present position of all registers, including Tasks, Task Orders, Early Warnings and CEs
Attend and prepare for weekly client meeting and represent the company in a commercial capacity
Ensure close liaison with the client project managers
Payment of subcontractor accounts as and when required
Prepare and issue subcontract documents
Manage pricing variations
Ensure timely certification of subcontractor certificates
Maintain contractual records of all project related matters
Focus on awarding subcontracting opportunities to new businesses, entrepreneurs, start-ups or SMEs
Look to maximise the amount of project spend with businesses within 100 miles of site
Engage sub-contractors and support the small works project management team in surveying works
Work closely with subcontractors to encourage and support reducing carbon emissions
Ensure all company procedures are being complied with
Ensure all Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Management Procedures are followed
Ensure adherence to site-specific protocol and procedures
Introduce improvements and innovations where appropriate
Positively promote the company wherever and whenever possible
About You
Essential Criteria
Demonstrate previous experience in a QS role particularly within FM Maintenance contracts
Demonstrate a sound knowledge of the market
Demonstrate strong communication skills
Experience of managing profit and loss accounts and working to budgetary targets
Sound project management track record
Initiating, drafting and reviewing documents
Excellent negotiation skills
Experience in a variety of Schedules – NSR & BCIS
Demonstrate proficiency in IT applications- e.g. MS Word, Excel
Full UK Driving Licence
Demonstrate a sound knowledge of commercial and contractual issues in relation to Facilities Management and NEC 4
