The OpportunityOur PV Design Engineer within C&I is responsible for delivering innovative and efficient solar PV designs that meet the technical and regulatory requirements of our projects.The C&I PV Solar Engineer will be an integral part of the Commercial and Industrial (C&I) Generation Team, situated within the Development Directorate. Your role will encompass comprehensive support for projects across their entire lifecycle, spanning from origination through construction and into operation.Our C&I Generation Team is dedicated to providing onsite energy solutions to large industrial and commercial clients. These projects typically involve the construction and direct integration of energy solutions into client-owned sites, with project sizes ranging from 100kWp to 25MWp.As part of the C&I team, the PV Solar Engineer will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional PV Solar Engineering services. You will consistently demonstrate your ability to add value in a fiercely competitive and ever-evolving marketplace, all while upholding the highest engineering and quality standards. Your contribution is crucial to maintaining Engineering Excellence in our PV Solar Projects, especially as we experience rapid growth and diversification across various technologies.With the guidance of the Director of Development, you may take the lead in planning, coordinating, and prioritizing engineering resources in support of EDF Renewables' overarching C&I business objectives.Pay, benefits and culture

What you’ll be doing day to day…
One of the primary responsibilities of our PV Design Engineer will be fostering a collaborative and positive working culture within the C&I team, capitalising on synergies and efficiencies that benefit the entire organization.Other duties include:
- Champion the highest standards of Health and Safety with a dedicated Zero Harm approach throughout every phase of the project
- Take charge of and lead Engineering activities crucial to supporting solar PV projects across the entire development lifecycle, from project origination to operational status, including management of contractors
- Provide vigilant governance, oversight and risk management for PV Solar assets to ensure their sustained success, including review and approval of contractor documentation
- Regularly generate and deliver reports as required to keep stakeholders informed
- Address technical inquiries raised by team members, contractors, and suppliers with a solution-oriented approach
- Engage proactively in various internal team meetings and committees, actively participating in external stakeholder meetings, while fostering a robust support network within the broader EDF business
- Proudly represent EDF Renewables in external meetings, industry bodies, tradeshows, and conventions, reinforcing our presence and reputationWhat do you need to be great at this role?
- Proven experience in solar PV system design
- Proficiency in design software such as PVsyst, Helioscope, SAM, AutoCAD or equivalent
- Strong understanding of photovoltaic technology, system components and solar energy fundamentals
- Familiarity with relevant codes and standards pertaining to solar PV system design and installation
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to conduct detailed site assessments and shading analysis
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and present technical information to non-technical stakeholders
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlinesOther Skills
- Excellent at building successful relationships with external partners, peers, stakeholders and reporting line
- Good command of Microsoft Office package (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Power Point, etc.)
- Flexible to travel around the UK and overseas as the role requires
- Excellent (English), oral and written, communication skills
- Strong commitment to safety, health, environment and qualityClosing Date: 29th of October 2023Location: We are flexible on location within the UK with the flexibility of working from home but there will be an expectation to travel to one of our offices in London, Durham, Edinburgh or Cardiff as and when required.
