• Supervise and control the operation of the section by performing short- and long-range planning, making work assignments, recommend formal training requirements, awards, and necessary disciplinary and/or removal actions.
• Plan, organize, direct, and supervise in-house design and the review and approval of designs prepared by Architect-Engineer (A-E) firms.
• Make field trips to sites and/or existing facilities to examine or check conditions and advise on projects.
• Investigate alleged design deficiencies and construction failures; report findings and recommend remedial action.
• Provide oversight and direction for all Center of Standardization (COS) activities for the Norfolk District.

Major duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Planning and implementing comprehensive interior design program which includes providing complete, from concept to installation, interior design service for the organization to include satellite facilities
• Providing technical expertise to coworkers and contractors and routinely coordinating with engineers, architects, and other designers
• Planning, specifying, writing procurement packages, supervising installation and acting as the contracting officer's representative for all furniture procurements within the facility
• Working with direct supervisor to coordinate and maintain a schedule of short and long range interior-improvement projects for the facility through the 5-year interior design plan and other programs
• Acting as Contracting Officer's Representative for all furnishings, window treatments, patient cubicle curtains, floor coverings wall art, lighting, ceiling treatments, casework, and all other interior design-related accoutrements from origination to installations
• Working with direct supervisor to determine priorities and utilize and annual interior design budget in recurring funds and budgeting projects
• Developing the interior/exterior signage and wayfinding plan for the facility to comply with VA Signage Guide on the Technical Information Library
• Representing the facility at various design-trade functions and maintains an effective rapport with design-industry vendors and/or representatives
• Managing an interior design file system and managing a resource library of catalogs
• Working with the Contracting Officer's Representative on assigned projects
• Responding to requests, complaints, etc. related to interior design and furniture moves
• Executing activations of construction projects of all sizes and scopes with variety of projects
• Advising and implementing plan on adequacy and adaptability of cohesive space
• Coordinating facility paint, flooring, and ceiling/lighting schedule with appropriate construction crews
• Providing oversight for the work performed by contractors, and vendors
• Performing other related duties as assigned

Hays Civil Engineering is delighted to be partnering on a retained basis with Roughan & O'Donovan (ROD) a firm of civil, structural, and environmental engineering consultants.


The company has been established for 50 years and is headquartered in Dublin, Ireland. Current annual revenues exceed £20M and employee numbers exceed 200. ROD has an office in Otley near Leeds and two offices in Dublin. There are 12 shareholders of ROD, all of whom are full-time employees of the company.

The office in Otley was established in 2019 and a separate operating company, Roughan and O'Donovan UK Ltd, was incorporated in 2018. There are currently 19 people working in the Otley office with a plan to increase this over the coming years.
Current UK projects the team are involved in are:

• A5 Western Transport Corridor ECI,
• A6 Dungiven to Drumahoe D&B,
• Clyde Waterfront and Renfrew Riverside Bridge,
• A47 Harfrey's Roundabout and
• Herring Bridge and Approaches, Great Yarmouth and
• Cross Tay Link Road.

Whilst these are major highways and bridge projects, there is an extensive element of Active Travel, SUDS, Environment and Geotechnical elements to them with a keen focus on sustainability.
Past projects include:

• A6 Randaltown to Castledawson,
• A1231 Northern Spire and approaches and
• M8-M73-M74 Motorway Upgrade.

Revenues at ROD UK Ltd are currently of the order of £2M per annum. ROD has an extensive portfolio of past projects in the Highways & Transportation sector in Ireland, having provided services to public-sector, contractor and PPP clients on more than 500km of motorway projects, and Greenways, for instance.

ROD is also a market leader in Urban Realm and Active Travel project design in Ireland and has been requested to provide training in this sector in the UK based on our large portfolio of completed projects. Sustainability and liveability are cornerstones of our design philosophy, and we strive to incorporate circular economy principles in all of our project designs. ROD has targeted the UK market as its principal growth area and is now seeking to recruit an Associate/Technical Director to support the further growth of the ROD UKL business in that sector.
This role is ideal for an individual with a proven ability to provide technical leadership, to develop professional teams, and to provide high quality service to clients. The successful candidate will hold a senior transportation design leadership position in an engineering consultancy and will have the ambition to lead that discipline within the expanding ROD UKL team.

The position will be based in the Otley office.
Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for the transportation team, overseeing, supporting, advising and coaching the engineering professionals.
• Supervise highways and transportation projects, lead design evolution and checking with full technical responsibility for deliverables, assign responsibilities and allocate resources efficiently.
• Lead and direct bidding efforts for new highways and transportation projects.
• Be part of the management team in the wider ROD Transportation Group, including organising ROD UKL inputs to projects in Ireland and coordinating resources in Ireland to support UK bidding and projects.
• Maintain excellent levels of customer service.
• Report to the Managing Director of the ROD UKL business.
• Undertake group-wide management functions allocated by the Board.

Required Skills and Experience

• A Chartered Engineer with a university degree, coupled with in excessive of 15 years experience in Civil Engineering design.
• Excellent technical skills in the design of highways, streets, and transportation projects.
• Commercial and financial acumen.
• Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Capable of representing the company with clients and external parties.
• Experience of traffic network analysis is desirable but not essential.

Your new role
As a Performing Arts Teacher, you will be delivering inspiring and supporting students in
lessons across a range of year groups, teaching Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 4 students. You will be expected to plan, deliver, and assess the performing arts curriculum, helping students develop their skills in drama, dance, and music. This is a full-time, ongoing position, ASAP.

You must hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), have experience teaching performing arts in a secondary school setting. A passion for the subject and the ability to inspire students to reach their full potential is essential. Experience in teaching drama, dance, and music is highly desirable.
