The Department of Architecture invites applications for up to three Tenure Track positions in Urban Planning and Design.
The Department of Architecture in the College of Design and Engineering is ranked among the top 10 in the world, and Asia’s best in Architecture/Built Environment, by the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings (2023). It offers the professionally accredited Master of Architecture programme as well as a range of graduate and undergraduate programmes in related fields such as
landscape architecture, integrated sustainable design and architectural conservation. The faculty is correspondingly diverse and international. Qualifications
The Department of Architecture at the National University of Singapore invites applications for up to three Tenure track (Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor) position in urban planning and design. Successful candidates should be actively engaged with urban issues in Asia. They should have interests in developing interdisciplinary research to address pressing challenges to high-density urban environment, especially in Asia. They are strongly encouraged to develop collaborative research in the context of the newly established College of Design and Engineering as well as with industry partners and government agencies within and beyond Singapore.
Successful candidates should also have interests and experience in running urban design and/or planning studios in an interdisciplinary setting. We are especially interested in applicants who are able to deploy the studio as a testbed for questions related to pressing challenges to high-density tropical cities. Successful candidates are also expected to teach core modules related to urban planning and design, physical planning, environmental management, urban economics, and urban infrastructure.
The candidate should possess a Ph.D. degree in Urban Planning and Design or related fields as well as requisite experience and credentials suitable for full-time appointment in NUS. They should (i) demonstrate a proven track record in, or strong potential for, research; (ii) have the ability to teach both studio and core modules of urban planning and design at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; and (iii) for the position of professor and associate professor, have strong academic credentials, extensive experience and strong competence in academic leadership and management. Salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience.
