Your new role

• Cultivate an in-depth understanding of the abrdn business and the risks it faces, specialising in the Corporate Functions team, supporting the team and our stakeholders in understanding and responding to those risks.

• Own significant relationships (seniority and/or coverage) generating valuable audit insights and generating plan proposals aligned to the risks faced by the business.

• Attend governance and oversight fora, representing the function and providing management and clients with the insights they need to manage risks faced.

• Effective management and prioritisation of competing priorities and phased delivery of a portfolio of complex audits, to ensure IA's focus is on the key risks faced by the business at the right time.

• Oversee the timely and effective end to end delivery of audits using Agile in line with our methodology and expected quality standards, collaborating across the function to deliver optimal outcomes.

• Write compelling and impactful reports requiring minimal edits. Effectively communicate information to senior leaders, landing complex and technical messages succinctly and persuasively.

• Identify the root cause of risk management weaknesses and recommend robust, practical and beneficial solutions aligned to the business’s strategic objectives.

• Provide high quality and effective coaching to junior team members, to equip them to deliver to our quality standards.

• Ensure all of your own and your engagement team members’ output meets quality and methodology expectations including, where utilised, the work of peers and other parties (e.g. co-source) who are delivering in support of your engagement.

About the Role

• Understand Group Strategy & Business Objectives to focus IA's work on highest risks - feeding this information into the audit plan. Oversee planning process to ensure focus is correct for the risks that are prevalent across the Adviser business.

• Own and track delivery of thematic audit plan and performance as a portfolio, accountable to Chief Internal Auditor.

• Manage Auditors, Senior Auditors / Specialists and Audit Managers. Ability to identify the strengths of the team to use for the benefit of the business and identify development areas to coach and develop.

• Role model best leadership practice across the wider function as a member of the IA LT

• Manage co-source in an efficient and effective way which identifies the needs of the team and the strengths of the provider

The Fund Accounting Senior Manager is a senior management level position responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a team or department, driving a variety of fund valuation activities in coordination with the Operations - Transaction Services team. The overall objective of this role is to ensure the seamless delivery of activities associated with Net Asset Valuations (NAVs).

Responsibilities:

• Manage a team of professionals to accomplish established goals and conduct personnel duties for team (e.g. performance evaluations, hiring and disciplinary actions)
• Identify opportunities to implement process improvements and recommend system, service, and process enhancements including leading and evaluating system testing
• Coordinate staff assignments to achieve optimal effectiveness through assessment of business requirements and staff skill sets and development needs
• Build and maintain relationships with internal and external clients, and serve as point of escalation of complex customer issues
• Perform discovery and due diligence with clients and visits regarding service quality measurement
• Manage the Risk and Control agenda including audits, interfacing with internal and external auditors, and identifying process gaps
• Work closely with senior management on identifying opportunities for cost saves, full-time equivalent (FTE) reduction, and optimization
• Work closely with Sales and CEs on client management and service improvement initiatives

The TSB Internal Audit team has c. 50 colleagues based across London, Edinburgh and Barnwood. As an integral part of the team, you’ll forge excellent relationships with senior stakeholders, developing a great understanding of their business and provide them with valuable insight on their governance, risk management and control environment. As well as delivering high quality and impactful audits you’ll also help shape the annual audit plan and drive continuous improvement within the department.

How you’ll make a difference
The Audit Manager is responsible for leading increasingly large or complex audits, maintaining good quality, time, and budget standards. You will make a difference in your role by contributing to the strategic thinking and direction of the audit team and play an important role in shaping parts of the annual audit plan.

What you’ll bring

- Prior experience of leading assurance work, preferably within financial services.
- The ability to comfortably work with quantitative topics such as data analysis and statistics. An understanding of the key risks and controls throughout the model lifecycle including data, development, implementation, monitoring, and model use would be beneficial. However, we are willing to work with you in developing your model risk knowledge.
- Existing knowledge, or a willingness to learn about, regulatory requirements for model risk management, credit risk models (IRB and IFRS9), forecasting and stress testing models.
- A critical thinker who can positively influence others to think differently.
- A collaborative team player with a growth mindset and an appetite to learn and develop.
- Strong planning and organisational skills, proven ability to deliver to timelines, experience with managing, prioritising, and delivering multiple tasks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience of delivering potentially challenging messages to senior management. Attention to detail is a key skill required to be successful in this role.
- Strong internal and external stakeholder management and influencing skills.
