To undertake appropriate checks on receipt of tissues and ensure the appropriateness of both the tissue and storage conditions. To ensure, with colleagues, that Tissue usage paperwork if completed for each issued tissue and to chase when there are identified gaps. To review and generate reports as needed for providers, including the Human Tissue Authority (HTA), Infection Control (IPC) and Graft Outcome Clinics (GOC). To provide support to colleagues within the department, as needed. Department of Eye Pathology To receive samples and biopsies from national senders and handle them in accordance with local guidelines. To carefully check the request form and patient samples whilst booking the samples in to the departments computer system,/database. To support the Biomedical Scientists by undertaking duties which they request, such as changing the processing machines, refreshing reagents across various analysers, running IQC and retrieving solvents from the bulk store as needed. Miscellaneous: To support the line managers towards continuously improving the service delivery and efficiency streams. As such, there may be a requirement to perform any other essential duties required to succeed in the role. Adult ENT patients at LRI are managed on Ward 9 which is a 18 bedded mixed adult ward shared with plastic surgery and maxillofacial surgery. The Kinmonth Unit provides high dependency care for airway patients and patients undergoing head and neck surgery. We also have an Adult Surgical Dayward located on Balmoral Level 2 adjacent to the theatres.

The department of ENT is an extremely busy one, providing a combination of 35 inpatient and day case operating lists with dedicated paediatric theatres. These are all run through the central operating department and Surgical Day Ward.

Our outpatient department is a dedicated ENT department supported by audiology currently based at the Leicester Royal Infirmary with plans to expand into the Elective Care HUB at the Leicester General Hospital at the end of the year. The outpatients department provides accommodation for the medical staff in fully equipped individual consulting rooms.

The East Midlands Planned Care Centre (EMPCC) at the Leicester General Hospital will consist of two theatres, 21 recovery beds (4 first stage & 17 second stage) and 12 post operative recovery beds with a Medical Day Case Unit consisting of 18 medical daycase treatment areas. There will be an outpatients department which has 14 outpatient clinic rooms, 4 procedures rooms & 6 recovery beds. ENT will have access to 1 all-day extended theatre list 3 times a week, 2 clinic rooms 6 days a week and an audiology booth.

ENT also support community clinics, which are currently run in Loughborough, Melton Mowbray, Oakham, Market Harborough, Hinckley and Coalville.

ENT support a busy Childrens and Adults Emergency department.

A new post created in advance of our move to Oriel, a new centre for Eye Health, due to open in 2027.

This role spans Pathology Services, the Moorfields Lions Eye Bank and the Department of Eye Pathology (a dedicated Cellular Pathology Department as part of a National service), whom will be coming together in Oriel.

In preparation for that move we are starting to bring the workforce together with roles such as this which have elements which cover all areas on a rotational basis, subject to planned need. .Full comprehensive training shall be provided. The department seeks dynamic individuals with a “can-do” attitude, positive outlook, require minimal supervision and possess the appetite to seek continuous improvement with excellent outcomes.

The role covers the Pathology Services Department within the main Moorfields Hospital. The main duties here are to receive and despatch samples from across the Trust to the relevant pathology provider(s). It is an admin based role, handling the samples and fielding calls and queries from clinical teams relating to the results.

The Moorfields Lions Eye Bank order and receive transplantable tissues and materials from multiple suppliers, before sending them to theatres and network sites for use in patients. There is a need to check theatre lists to ensure tissue is ordered in good time and to check it against acceptance criteria upon receipt. The correct tissue is then distributed for the correct recipient, with a custody trail maintained throughout,

The Department of Eye Pathology forms part of NSOPS and receives ophthalmic samples nationally which are dissected, processed and reported free of charge as a block funded service. Initially the role here would mirror that of a Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) until IBMS training accreditation is back in place and then would transfer to a trainee role to enable HCPC registration.

Job Details

• Designing, building and maintaining interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI to provide actionable insights to stakeholders
  
• Performing advanced data analysis using SQL and other querying tools to extract and interpret complex data sets
  
• Creating detailed reports, visualisations and presentations to communicate findings to our Contact Centre Management
  
• Leveraging automation tools to streamline reporting processes, reduce manual efforts and improve efficiency and identifying and proposing improvements in data-driven processes that alight with business goals
  
• Working with data from primary or secondary data sources and ensuring data accuracy, integrity and timely updates in reporting systems
  
• Providing guidance and mentorship to our junior analysts, promotion best practices in data analysis, reporting and BI tool usage
  
  
  

Skills we would love you to have

• Strong technical skills (Advanced SQL, Advanced Excel, VBA, Power BI) alongside a strong understanding of Cloud technologies, development approaches, tool and techniques (e.g Snowflake Data Warehouse)
  
• Experience in developing and delivering data products in collaboration with business stakeholders
  
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop good working relationships at all levels

Job Details

• Designing and agreeing the colleague communications strategy for the Insurer Services department (Claims and Fraud)
  
• Strengthening alignment between all areas within Insurer Services to ensure effective distribution of colleague comms, including emails and internal pages
  
• Supporting the ongoing delivery of the operational communications and engagement strategy
  
• Working with all leaders across the department to support the creation and delivery of timely, suitable and effective strategic, planned and ad-hoc colleague comms
  
• Managing the creation and distribution of weekly huddle packs and monthly release packs
  
• Supporting agreed projects within colleague comms and providing ad-hoc incident comms when needed and maintaining the colleague distribution list

This role focuses on leading and developing the site electrical team while ensuring compliance with all electrical systems. You will create and implement plans to reduce downtime and production/service costs. This position offers an ambitious individual the opportunity to drive improvements and tackle faults proactively. Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance for both LV and HV systems. You will delegate and implement improvement work and action plans on time and within budget, support site-wide electrical maintenance and improvements using tools such as Coswin, monitor breakdowns and faults while implementing reliability enhancements, and mentor electrical team members by promoting effective fault-finding and documenting corrective actions.

Ideal requirements include experience with Allen Bradley/Rockwell PLCs in high-speed manufacturing or similar systems, familiarity with computerised maintenance systems and electrical installation projects, being a time-served Electrical Engineering Apprentice with 18th Edition qualification, and safe working practices including Lock Off/Tag Out. You will be commutable to Leicester and will have ideally worked as a lead electrical engineer or supervisor or you are currently an electrical maintenance engineer looking for the next step in your career.

Your new role

Working as a Cover Supervisor through Hays, you will benefit from working in a variety of schools without the pressures of planning or marking!
