What Warehouse Operations contributes to Cardinal Health

Warehouse Operations is responsible for performing/controlling a combination of manual or automated tasks necessary for the receipt, storage, and shipment of product. This may include functions of receiving, picking, packing, shipping, staging, transporting, storage, delivery, etc. Also responsible for the efficient flow of products from the point of product receipt from vendors to the shipment of products (via prescribed service parameters) to a variety of internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

• General care and housekeeping of the warehouse.
• Sweeping, cutting, cleaning plastic and cardboard off of pallets.
• Compactor and guard cleaning
• Trash clean up and removals
• Overall ensuring the facility is tidy and safe

Qualifications

• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Willing to be trained on Forklift and Floor Scrubber
• Proficient in Microsoft office preferred

Position Summary

The Health & Safety Manager provides leadership, guidance, and expertise to operation with respect to the development and implementation of Health and Safety strategies, standards, policies and related processes, legislative requirements. The incumbent provides support, tools and the information necessary to heighten awareness of supervisors/managers and employees to relevant health and safety matters and provides the necessary expertise and guidance to address health and safety concerns where required to prevent occupations injuries and illnesses. The position will support the development and implementation of the Pernod Ricard H&S strategic priorities including safety culture, safety leadership and safety performance. The position will build the trust and confidence to inspire change through providing comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis. The position will also oversee the development and execution of the machine safety program including a robust change management process. The Health and Safety Manager will oversee the Disability Management program and provide support for PR Canada.

Key Responsibilities

Risk Management

• Drive strong leadership abilities to drive local adoption of health and safety programs
• Manage the safety requirements of the operational sites and equipment and provide support to operations through safety evaluations of projects using documentation and standardized processes
• Education supervisors/managers and employees on health and safety practices through effective communication, one on one coaching and collaborative problem solving
• Supports site managers/supervisors in the completion of the health and safety hazard and risk assessments; partner with site management to identify and implement risk reduction initiatives
• Assists in incident investigations of lost time, medical aid and near miss incidents of a serious and potentially serious nature by understanding various accident investigation techniques and applying where necessary
• Promote and educate on the use of leading indicator programs such as permit to work, behaviour based safety and field level risk assessments to ensure a strong incident prevention mindset
• Conduct operational inspections/audits in promotion of policy implementation and ongoing hazard/risk mitigation
• Act in the function of Corporate Safety Champion liaise between operations site and HQ
• Conduct. Co-present or coordinate the development and implementation of safety training programs
• Conducting new worker safety orientations and other required training programs as needed
• Create and implement workplace health and safety plans and procedures
• Drive the machine safety program including a robust change management process for the site
• Captures, analyses, and reacts to safety metrics and reviews weekly and monthly incident trends to discover patterns on areas where the safety risk is highest
• Produces monthly analysis of safety documentation and statistics
• Partners with site leadership to improve safety programs by evaluating existing programs, identifying areas of concern, and implementing solutions
• Coordinates compliance with legal and regulatory requirements

Disability /Return to Work Management

• Oversees all aspects of disability management/return to work programs including interface with the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board, 3rd party health insurance provider and local union for early return to work for operations employees
• Responsible for timely reporting and claims management to meet the local provincial compensation board requirements
• Support Operations in workplace accommodations and modified work programs

QSE and ISO Systems

• Provide support in sustaining all Pernod-Ricard Corporate QSE (quality, safety, environment, food safety) guidelines and ISO 9001, 14001, and 18001 system management requirements

This position is responsible for EHS compliance and risk reduction. EHS TAP will help lead technical and cultural change in safety, environmental & resource conservation. TAP rotation to be a minimum 1 year at the manufacturing plant and second year rotation at a different manufacturing plant or as guided by Corp EHS.  Must be mobile during TAP rotations, and mobile to be placed after second rotation to a permanent position. Approximately, 75% Tactical work and 25% Strategic work.

Area of Responsibility:

• Develop and implement safety programs
• Identify safety hazards, develop and implement corrective actions
• Review capital projects and provide EHS input
• Lead incident investigations
• Conduct annual EHS standards self-audits and corrective action follow up
• Environmental Programs: Proactively determine regulatory requirements based on complex permits.  Implement a proactive environmental management system.  Conduct routine compliance inspections and complete reporting requirements for required environmental compliance programs (Ex. Air emissions, SPCC, storm water, spill reporting, hazardous waste, wastewater, etc.).
• Resource Conservation:  Determine plant environmental footprint to develop and implement proactive resource conservation programs

Salary for this role is based upon experience and is in the approximate salary range of $50,000-$68,000.
