We are looking to recruit a friendly, motivated, enthusiastic Facilities Assistant who enjoys paying attention to detail and taking pride in their area of work to join Invest Falkirk working within the Premises team at a specified Falkirk Council building but working across a range of locations. You will carry out basic maintenance work within the building(s) and grounds, carry out routine tests of the fire alarm and water systems, liaise with in-house repairs and maintenance teams and external contractors. You will support the Premises Manager in operational matters and be responsible for the safe operation and security of designated Falkirk Council buildings.

The role involves shift working and weekend working as required. You will also be required to participate in a standby rota for call-out to Council buildings out-of-hours including evenings, weekends and public holidays.

The applicant must hold a full, clean driving licence and have general building maintenance /handyperson/DIY skills, with a working knowledge of basic health and safety procedures. Basic IT literacy and skills would be beneficial but in-house training will also be provided.

You will be required to undertake First Aid and IOSH basic Health &; Safety training.

A strength-based approach is essential in working alongside families to identify solutions in respect of their family life. Therefore, experience of supporting families in overcoming challenges with family relationships and routines, the impact of domestic abuse, emotional wellbeing and school attendance is desirable.

You will be based in the Temporary Accommodation Team to develop a strong understanding of the housing application system and support families in this process. They will also be required to work closely with key partners across social work, education, employment, and mental health services to support the development of stronger support networks for families. Strong communication skills and experience of working collaboratively with partners is essential.

This post is temporary until February 2026 and has been created to support Children’s and Place Services in its ongoing work to improve outcomes for children and families in the local area. Supervision and support with be provided on a regular basis.
