• Provide customer service at the reception counter to support staff,

parents, students, and visitors, including answering phone calls

and addressing inquiries.

8) Prepare an inventory of stocks annually and inform HOD Science

to make the necessary purchase.

12) Provide care to the butterflies in the creature watch area i.e.

obtaining fresh cuttings from the garden to feed them and

The Services required are set out as follows: 

Prepare Science teaching & learning resources based on:

1. Workbook requirements

2. Teaching needs e.g. pull out plant model display when the P3s are learning about plants to be showcased in the lab 

Maintain cleanliness of the two labs and the equipment

Arrange for feeding of the fish in the aquaponics system (both indoor and outdoor), pond at eco-garden 

Stock-take of equipment at least twice a year 

Assist in the inventory taking when the external audit asset team comes by 

Assist teachers in the lab during lab sessions if required 

Assist teachers in innovative learning lab for Science-related activities whenever possible including setting up of projector to play video in canteen during recess time 

Assist teachers in preparation of activities for Environmental and Science club 

Look into the display and loaning of Science books to the students on an ad-hoc basis, either in lab or in the canteen 

The Services required are set out as follows:

The duties and responsibilities of the Science Laboratory Assistant:

1. Prepare teaching resources for Science lessons, EE/LLP level programmes, E2K enrichment classes, i.e., packing of materials needed for experiments, setting up of, clearing away and cleaning of experimental set-ups and /or demonstration apparatus as instructed by the Level Reps and Science teachers;

2. Prepare resources for the conduct of Science Practical Tests and maintain examination integrity;

3. Ensure the maintenance (daily cleanliness and upkeep) and safety requirements of the following Special Rooms / Spaces under the Science Department; - Science Rooms - Maker Studio(s) - Learning spaces (e.g. EE Hub, Outdoor Experiential Learning spaces such as the Ecogarden, Rainwater Harvest system, Aquaponics/hydrophonics system, Butterfly Garden, Gardening areas, etc)

4. Adhere to the following requirement stated in the Safety Handbook:

PART A

- Maintain a safe and tidy lab environment. - Display general laboratory safety guidelines clearly for all laboratories. - Display the evacuation route prominently in each laboratory. - Ensure that all apparatus and equipment are safe for use. - Ensure that chemicals are labelled properly in accordance to GHS in Chapter9. - Ensure that spills are handled in accordance with guidelines. - Ensure that chemicals (see Section 11.3.5.) and biological materials (see Section 10.3.7.) are disposed of appropriately. - Store, use and handle chemical explosive precursors (EP) in accordance with the regulations stated in Section 11.2.

PART B

- Maintain laboratory equipment, apparatus, PPE, materials and specimens in good working condition. - Report all faulty machines and equipment immediately, and display an "Out of Order" sign prominently on the machines/equipment. - Check that safety devices in the laboratory, such as emergency eyewashers, showers and fire extinguishers, are in working condition. - Inspect gas and water systems and initiate necessary repair or maintenance work. - Maintain a record or file of the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) that accompany purchased chemicals (see also Section 11.3.1. on the classification of hazardous chemicals). - Keep a stock book and breakage record and indicate necessary replacement. - Prepare an inventory of stocks annually. - Maintain a usage record. - Check and replenish first aid supplies (see Annex B for the minimum contents of a First Aid Kit). - Guide or supervise laboratory attendants, or other personnel working in the lab, on laboratory safety. 5. Administrative duties and responsibilities of the Science Laboratory

1. The School Laboratory Assistant is to perform the following administrative duties: - front desk duties (e.g. handling calls in general office, attending to students) - filing and organising documents - packing of items - assisting ESOs - administration tasks assigned by the Vice-Principal / Admin Manager.

2. To be responsible for the proper maintenance of all the First Aid Boxes in the school

Administrative duties and responsibilities of the Science Laboratory Assistant during term time on an ad hoc basis:

1. The lab Asst will be called upon to assist in the administrative duties listed in item 1 when needed.

5. To organise the Science resources and equipment in the 2 Science

Laboratories and TinkerSpace.

Laboratories and TinkerSpace at all times.

7. To assist in conducting simple Science enrichment activities such as

showcasing the life cycles of some animals and creative toys during

designated recesses / Science school-based events to complement

Science Projects

1. To assist in the loan and yearly inventory and stock taking of resources

in various Science Programmes e.g.TinkerSpace Programme,

Science Sparkles, E2K-Ignite Programmes, etc.

2. To assist the department in monitoring the Aquaponics System

including feeding the fishes and harvesting the produce.

3. To assist the department in the feeding and maintainance of the

Mealworm Beetles, Stick Insects Enclosure, etc.

4. Must be able to comfortably handle ‘live’ specimens e.g. mealworm

The Services required are set out as follows: Lab Support Services

Set up materials and equipment for day to day experiments and for practical exams.

Ensure all practicals that take place in the labs run smoothly. Assist teachers to trouble-shoot where possible. Check on practicals once in a while when lessons are ongoing.

Conduct safety review of labs under her charge once every 6 months and suggest recommendations to HOD to improve lab safety.

Lab Maintenance

Monitoring schedule of teachers coming in and out of the science rooms.

Assist in procurement of science equipment & instrument.

Maintain science equipment and apparatus in the lab.

Maintain inventory record of science lab equipment.

Assist science teachers in lesson preparation (when necessary).

Job Description

• Prepare Science apparatus for experiments and Mathematics

Science Laboratory Support Officer

The key roles and responsibilities of the science laboratory support officer are to provide general cleaning and assist the science laboratory technician to maintain the science laboratories and preparation rooms.

General cleaning of laboratories and preparation rooms

1. Sweep and mop floors of laboratories and preparation rooms after use.

2. Empty trash bins placed at the sink areas and floors at the end of each day.

3. Clean laboratory benches and sinks at the end of each day if there are practical lessons on the day.

4. Refill hand soap, disinfectants and paper towels.

5. Empty broken glassware container if it is filled.

Provide general cleaning of laboratory equipment and apparatus under laboratory technician’s guidance

6. Washing of glassware (beakers, measuring cylinders, plastic bottles and vials).

Support laboratory technician to prepare materials and equipment under supervision

7. Replicate the experimental set-up after an example has been shown.

8. Weigh chemicals into bottles, fill up bottles with solutions and/or prepare other science-related equipment or materials.
