RPS is looking for a Principal Consultant within the Air Quality & Noise Team, which is a part of our wider UK Environment & Infrastructure Division. Ideally, the role will be Brighton based but other locations will be considered.

What you’ll be doing
You will be providing consultancy advice on a wide range of technically demanding projects for clients in the property, waste, minerals, renewables and energy sectors. Our work includes desk and site-based air quality, dust, odour impact assessments for planning applications, Environmental Impact Assessments and Environmental Permit applications. You will also be preparing quotes to secure new business.

You will support Directors in implementing the business plan and contribute to marketing activities. You will have leadership skills by helping to train and mentor our graduates and consultants.

Who we’re looking for
You’ll already have solid experience working in air quality at Principal Consultant level or you’ll be an ambitious Senior Consultant ready to step up to the next level. You’ll have a collaborative and consultative approach, be good at developing relationships and be confident and decisive. Ideally, you'll have been educated to degree level or equivalent within a relevant subject (e.g. physics, chemistry, mathematics, environmental science, geography) and be a full Member of the Institute of Air Quality Management.

You’ll be highly knowledgeable across all the main environmental air quality areas: atmospheric dispersion modelling (such as ADMS Roads, ADMS 5 and/or AERMOD), air quality/dust monitoring and always up to date with current methods, legislation, guidance and standards. You’ll have significant experience in assessing the air quality impacts on human health and ecology. We’re also interested in candidates with experience of assessments for carbon capture and storage technologies using amines.

We'll need you to be numerically proficient, IT literate and have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. You will have substantial experience of analysing data using spreadsheets and GIS mapping tools.


Good financial and project management skills are essential, as are great influencing and communication skills that enable you to build, maintain and consolidate strong working relationships with colleagues, clients and external bodies. You will demonstrate the potential to appear and speak at committees, informal hearings, and examinations in public.

There will be some travel – a full, clean UK driving licence will be required

Based on site in Glasgow in our busy manufacturing facility, you will support in process and final assembly inspection to finished products.

Our Opportunity

As an Electro/Mechanical Inspector you will be part of an experienced team, inspecting products ensuring compliance and engage with all disciplines within manufacturing to facilitate an improvement in product quality and process adherence.

Day to day duties include;

• Support Business objectives by ensuring compliance with Quality and Process requirements
• Ensure that product or process issues are reported accurately and timely
• Record Non Conformance within an ERP system.
• Verify that required quality assurance documentation is complete and accurate
• Check, prepare and document Production records/conformity

About You

The successful candidate will have a proven working knowledge of Electro/Mechanical Inspection and understanding of quality processes. Qualified in Electrical, Mechanical or Electronics Engineering, you will be able to interpret engineering drawings & specifications, provide data analysis and write reports.

Applications are invited for an Administrative Officer (Equality) (1.0 FTE) to join the Glasgow School of Art within the Mackintosh School of Architecture.

As Administrative Officer, you will join a busy team within a teaching department which delivers courses at Degree, Diploma and Postgraduate level.

The post holder will work as part of a small team, providing administrative support for all aspects of academic quality assurance and compliance by: ensuring MSA aligns with academic standards and quality assurance processes at GSA; overseeing PSRB compliance; overseeing administrative aspects of student misconduct cases; Board of Studies committee management; overseeing processing of and providing advice/guidance in respect of GDPR/Data Protection compliance.

The role will provide administrative support for recruitment and admissions, course delivery, assessments, student feedback, visiting lecturers/critics, study trips as well as committee servicing for programme/School committees. Educated to Higher Grade level (or equivalent) and/or have relevant experience in an administrative position, preferably within an HE/FE environment, you will have knowledge and experience of all Microsoft Office applications.

The Finance Directorate supports Ministers and senior officials across the public sector make sound decisions about the allocation and management of resources. In doing so, we deliver a range of financial management, compliance, and strategic roles to ensure that the Scottish Government’s reputation for competent government, prudent fiscal management and value for money is maintained and enhanced, helping the organisation to manage and govern over £50 billion of public spending, and deliver a wide range of compliance and reporting requirements.

As part of this, we have identified the requirement for Controls and Assurance Advisors. These roles sit within the Risk, Control & Assurance Division which is being formed to lead a range of Assurance, Risk Management, Financial Policy and Process, and Grants Management functions in the Finance Directorate.

We welcome professionals enthusiastic about helping establish our new Finance control and assurance function and driving best practice as we implement a new Enterprise, Resource, and Planning (ERP) applications using Oracle Cloud.

These are new roles, and you may be a finance professional with a professional qualification but that is not a specific requirement. Similarly, your experience may be in an assurance or internal audit.

A knowledge and practical experience of the Finance Global Design principles and of core Finance processes, internal controls, or related assurance is desirable but not essential, alongside experience of using Oracle ERP systems.

The nature of the work is such that a key requirement of the role is a flexible and adaptable approach to managing tasks and programmes of work, with an ability to adapt quickly to change, in partnership with colleagues across the Team, Division, Directorate and wider Scottish Government community.

Responsibilities
The postholder will support the improvement of finance controls and processes in line with agreed standards as the new ERP is implemented to improve the effectiveness of controls and oversight of compliance and assurance.

In the initial phase the duties of this role include collaborating on the strategy and work plan for the team and supporting the work of:

• Evaluating the financial control and assurance framework in the context of the ERP design and best practice.
• Ensuring the documentation and mapping of controls.
• Collaborating on the design and implementation of new controls where gaps are identified.
• Collaborating with colleagues on the materials to support the ERP and to ensure understanding of the operation of controls.
• Developing systems and process to ensure control effectiveness is regularly tested and monitored.
• Building on the reporting capability of the ERP to expand the use of data analytics and reporting tools to develop the management information offering to business areas/stakeholders.
• Engaging effectively across the Finance function and implementing appropriate guidance and training.
• In a context of continuous improvement, working effectively within a multi-disciplinary team that brings together finance, data analysis, finance policy and audit expertise.

Essential Criteria
1. Your career must include knowledge and experience in practice of implementing, improving, or managing internal control and assurance functions.
