We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant General Manager, Laundry to assist in overseeing the strategic and policy direction of our laundry plant and maintenance operations. The successful candidate will be instrumental in formulating and implementing operational policies to ensure excellence in quality management, cost management, customer satisfaction, business continuity, and safety management across our two facilities located in the East.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership - Manage and lead the team of plant and project managers to achieve operational deliverables including quality management, productivity improvement, cost efficiency and management, planned equipment maintenance and upkeep, and safe work practice and culture.
- Responsible for the development and certified training of staff within the laundry operations and maintenance teams to ensure that the unit can cater to changes in demand from the market and customers’ needs and requirements.
- Operations - Responsible for the production and operations of both laundry plants including ensuring the adequate supply of clean linens are produced and sent to customers on time with good quality that meets and even exceeds customers’ requirements.
- Responsible for the maintenance of laundry equipment and facilities in both plants.
Responsible for developing detailed operational plans and contingency plans to ensure that customers’ needs are met in different operational parameters.
- Strategic Planning - Assist the company to be technically advanced and market leader in the laundry industry.
- Responsible for formulating strategies and policies for achieving customers’ KPIs on laundry operations including quality, quantity, and delivery timing fulfillment.
- Forward planning of operational framework taking into account changes in key landscape elements, e.g. technology and customers’ requirements.
- Innovation - To support innovation projects and implement new technology-based programs (lean operations, smart solutions) to improve the efficiency of the laundry cleaning operations.
- Budgeting - Develop and monitor budget and control expenses to achieve acceptable profitability.
- Stakeholder Management - Build collaborative relationships and have regular communication platforms with key stakeholders including customers, and suppliers, to achieve operational deliverables.
- Be the key contact person and interface with stakeholders.
- Others - Undertake any other tasks or duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Educational Background: A degree in any field is desirable.
- Experience: A minimum of eight years in a managerial role within an operational setting is required, with a preference for those with a background in the laundry sector.
- Technical Knowledge: Must possess a thorough understanding of production processes and operational management. Familiarity with laundry-related equipment, machinery, and chemicals used in washrooms is essential.
- Communication Skills: Demonstrates outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of fostering strong relationships and rapport with team members at all levels, as well as with clients.
- Work Ethic: The ability to operate autonomously and adapt to a dynamic, high-pressure work environment is crucial.
- Adaptability in Controlled Environments: Must be adept at navigating the unique challenges of working in a prison setting, balancing efficient commercial production with stringent security measures.
