Major Duties:

• Monitors the stock on hand of tools, parts and other supplies and materials. Reports items that are in short supply due to higher-than-normal demand, breakage or frequency of repair. Prepares requests to order such items and requests for items not normally kept in stock. Examines incoming items to confirm that the items comply with what was requested. Notifies the supervisor of discrepancies in quantity, description or usability.

• Maintains an inventory of supplies and materials based on usage rates. Participates in periodic inventories. Receives materials and supplies personally stored and monitors the receipt of supplies and materials purchased and stored by trades’ shops.
• Coordinates the movement of incoming and outgoing supplies and placement of materials with the docking and storage areas. As assigned, delivers receiving and shipping documents to CGA procurement staff confirming deliveries.
• Screens shipping and receiving documents to identify any discrepancies in number and/or type of items ordered. Contacts vendors to resolve such issues and expedites the resolution of discrepancies.

The position is located in the Department of the Interior (the Department), Office of Hearings and Appeals (OHA) and serves as the Information Technology (IT) Program Manager for OHA under the direction and supervision the Deputy Director. The incumbent exercises management and oversight over information technology resources for OHA and has responsibility for planning, organizing, and executing all IT program activities and projects.
At the full performance level, GS-15, the major duties of this position include but are not limited to the following:

Monitors issues with external users of IT systems, identifies trends.

4. Manages and works with OCIO IT support on all OHA software or hardware system, particularly OHA main system that provides for e-filing and case docket management; develops a command of its technical function as well as an understanding how the system supports OHA's mission.

5. Serves as a Contracting Officer Representative on acquisitions of software or hardware with a significant IT component and provides contracting support on contracting efforts with any IT component. Serves as a technical lead. Follows through during development of major IT systems Serves as a key contact on Interagency Agreements related to IT. Works with OCIO to ensure acquisitions meet DOI requirements and will function with DOI systems.

6. Provides IT expertise in evaluating the organization's need for software, hardware, or other IT systems or assets; applying project management expertise to all aspects of the organization's IT operations and plans.

7. Communicates with organizational employees, establishing a network of contacts throughout the organization, and meeting regularly to discuss ongoing IT issues and provide solutions and feedback, coordinating deployments of IT software/hardware. Keeping the OHA website up to date.

8. Identifies possible improvements and troubleshoots IT issues that arise with the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) and the IT Helpdesk; creates "how to" instructional sheets to assist employees with IT, communicating with the Administration Division on Property management and inventory as well as contracts with an IT component, and tracking and alerting employees of upcoming IT updates and deployments.

9. Serves as the key organizational contact on IT matters, represents the organization and participates in Departmental IT meetings, responds to IT data calls, and coordinates with OCIO on reimbursable service agreements for IT services.

10. Provides organization-wide change leadership for crucial initiatives and to revitalize and modernize operations through collaboration with OCIO, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating the effectiveness of IT policies, procedures, and systems to ensure effective and cost efficient information resources management.

Design Coordinator

The Role:

As part of the Engineering function based in our Southern Region, the Design Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating design aspects throughout the project lifecycle. The Design Coordinator will support the Design Manager in overseeing the delivery of the design and technical solutions for our various projects across a number of clients. The Opportunity:

This position is affiliated with the UKRI APRIL AI Hub that aspires to develop AI tools to accelerate innovation across semiconductor technologies, novel microchip designs and system architectures – leading to faster, cheaper, greener and overall, more power-efficient electronics. As one of nine UKRI funded AI Hubs, this is a highly visible programme both nationally and internationally.



The post-holder will work closely with a team of talented researchers and the APRIL operations team to support the development of novel AI capabilities, tools and methodologies that can enhance the productivity of engineers in designing, developing and testing advanced electronic devices and systems. More specifically, the post-holder will be able to develop and introduce AI tools into commercially available circuit design tools that can autonomously synthetise circuits and systems architectures. The aim is to drastically reduce the design time and optimise the transfer of known topologies into new CMOS technologies.



The post-holder will have the ability to engage with world-leading experts across AI and electronics both at Edinburgh and in other UK higher education (HE) institutions but also industrial partners to ensure relevance of their Research in addressing state-of-art challenges in electronics.



The successful candidate will have excellent communication, organisation, and technical skills. They will enjoy working in a dynamic environment and be able to work on their own initiative as well as being an active team member. The role will report to the APRIL Hub Director (Principal Investigator), with on-going engagement with other researchers in the Hub as well as academic leads.

This role is UE07 and is available on a fixed term basis for up to 60 months.

Your skills and attributes for success:

A 1st class undergraduate degree and a PhD in Electronics or AI, or a clearly related area, with a proven contact with Circuits and Systems Design, or a closely related area or equivalent industry experience.
Experience in AI tools for Circuits and Systems Design automation; Experience with EDA tools.
A track record of research in AI, with a specific focus on Circuits and Systems Design or a closely related area.
Experience in delivering research project results in a Circuits and Systems Design and/or AI context; i.e. a record of peer-reviewed journal and conference papers in a relevant area.
Ability to be adaptive and accepting of new ideas and a willingness to approach new challenges and adjusts plans to meet new priorities.
