The Section includes responsibility for the SFLC Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) programs for Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E) equipment installed on all cutters and boats. The work involves a wide range of engineering including, but not limited to, diesel, gas turbine and electric propulsion systems, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, piping systems, hydraulics, ordnance, electrical distribution and control systems and other shipboard mechanical and electrical systems. No one field of engineering expertise predominates. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:
Coordinates Coast Guard and fleet involvement in RCMA initiatives, as well as reviews program products. Conducts RCM analysis, feasibility studies, reviews designs and specifications for equipment, materials and methods of retrofit or installation, and develops life cycle cost estimates and life cycle information for engineering projects. These technical instructions, guides and descriptive literature are used by SFLC units in operating, maintaining and repairing shipboard HM&E, ordnance and electronic systems.
Directly support the Section Chief via providing oversight of all RCM initiatives.
