Your new role

* The Tritium Fuel Cycle is seeking a process/chemical engineer who is responsible for identifying solutions for the design, build, test and commissioning of tritium compatible fuel cycle experiments and associated equipment to deliver safe and operational facilities for tritium research.

We are seeking to appoint a Cloud Engineer to join the multidisciplinary Oxford-GSK Institute of Molecular & Computational Medicine, based within the Nuffield Department of Medicine.

The Institute is built around fellows and Oxford-GSK project teams located across different departments within the Medical Sciences Division of the University. The initial projects focus on neurodegeneration and the central nervous system, specifically Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis but it is anticipated the range of activities will expand into other research areas in future.

You will be leading the design, planning, provisioning, ongoing maintenance and development of the IMCM Data Platform, and creating and updating documentation for the IMCM-specific aspects of the Data Platform. You will identify potential tools that can enhance the observability capabilities of the platform. This includes setup monitoring of the Platform to inform capacity planning and help spot potential problems before they affect researchers. You will be tasked with ensuring the security of the Platform is in line with the security guidelines provided by the University infosec teams and also from GSK. This includes developing and applying security policies (policy-as-code), applying updates and configuration checks, arranging penetration tests if needed.

It is essential that you are educated to degree level, with relevant experience. You will have extensive experience of deploying workloads across virtualisation platforms at scale, and experience of cloud platform engineering for production services. GCP experience is essential; experience with an additional provider preferred (Azure). You will have hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Pulumi, and experience of CI/CD pipelines like github actions, jenkins etc.

We are currently recruiting Mechanical & Electrical Technician to Join our Water Production team to work out of our Farmoor water treatment works
As the successful candidate, you will be working in a multi-discipline teams and will be responsible for carrying out scheduled, Plan and reactive, out of hours and emergency maintenance work on mechanical and electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimise plant breakdown. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference.

What you’ll be doing as the Mechanical & Electrical Technician

- Investigating plant failures and carrying out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process. This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents.
- Carrying out scheduled planned maintenance work on electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimise plant breakdowns.
- Providing technical advice to the wider team, referring to up-to-date technical knowledge, and providing training or support for technical trainees if required.
- Using technical equipment such as various pumps and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSDs, automatic valves and penstocks, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives and controls, chemical handling, and dosing equipment.

Base Location: Farmoor - Oxford - OX2 9NS,
Working Pattern 38 Hours Monday- Friday 7:30am – 3:36pm plus standby and overtime opportunities increasing earnings by potential £8-£10k per annum upon completion of essential company training
Company Van, PPE and all Tools are also provided.

What you should bring to the role

- To be a time-served apprentice with an NVQ or C&G level 3 in mechanical and electrical qualification
- Experience working in water or a similar industry with skills transferrable from another sector
- Experience working on large industrial plant equipment including various pumps within the utilities industry would be beneficial. Would suit mechanical maintenance/service engineers or mechanics from any industry
- 18TH Edition would be beneficial but not a requirement but must be willing to obtain during probation
- Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are essential
- The work will require physical fitness as you will work in manual handling and often physically demanding roles
- Be able will to work in restricted areas
- A valid driving licence is essential and all necessary equipment such as tools are provided

- Must be prepared to be trained in safety procedures.
- Knowledge and awareness of health and safety standards.
