Major duties of this position include but are not limited to:
Functioning as the coordinator of care for Veterans at suicide risk receiving care through the Battle Creek VAMC healthcare delivery system including its Outpatient Clinics. The SPC also serves as an advisor to the Associate Chief of Staff for Mental Health, Mental Health Service Chiefs, facility leadership, program managers and other medical center staff concerning suicide prevention strategies for individual patients, for the facility and for the Veteran community as a whole in conjunction with the SPCs at the Wyoming Health Care Center and Battle Creek VAMC, and other members of the Suicide Prevention Team.

Program Management
- The Management and Program Analyst is responsible for human resource processes, to include, but not limited to, entering recruitment requests, coordinate credentialing paperwork, and onboarding requirements such as Compensation Panel and computer access requests.
- He/she will assist the Service Administrative Officer in all matters pertaining to the periodic equipment inventory process. This will include working with Logistics and Biomed, and Engineering staff to locate, track, and appropriately disposition all equipment listed in the Service EIL's.
- The incumbent has oversight responsibility for the GIP/Purchasing process, ensuring that VAAAHS, National, and VISN 10 standards are met. He/she will implement corrections to the process if the standards are not met. This coordination will entail working directly with the Logistics GIP/Purchasing Agent, the Supply Technician, and the facility GIP Team.

Physician Coordination and Clinic Grids
- The incumbent is responsible for coordinating all aspects of Physician hiring for Ambulatory Care Services. This includes recruitment, retention, salary determination, credentialing, and privileging. Additionally, this person will be responsible for Physician Productivity measures in relation to other class 1a facilities; they will perform in-depth analysis/audits for areas below the 25% or above the 75% developing action plans for submission to COS and facility director.
- The incumbent will manage all activities related to the residency program. He/she will initiate all necessary organizational procedures involved in maintaining an active residency program. Close coordination with the University of Michigan is necessary to effectively execute these
responsibilities thus requiring the incumbent to develop and maintain a close working relationship with the Residency Program at the University of Michigan. Data Capture and Coordination
- The incumbent will independently manage, analyze, and coordinate all decisions associated with Decision Support Services (DSS) activities within the Service. These duties will include meeting with various Section Chiefs within the Service, DSS (Finance) staff, and staff within the Service to

The Extended Care Service Community Living Center Staff Nurse is a Professional Nurse with broad-based clinical knowledge enabling him/her to effectively implement health promotion, disease prevention, and management for adult or older adult residents requiring skilled Nursing interventions in a long term care setting. CLC Staff Nurses typically provide care for residents with complex, mixed chronic medical and/or psychiatric conditions, residents with cognitive impairments, and residents who are terminally ill. The CLC Staff Nurse utilizes the Nursing process when assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting Nursing care provided. The Peer Specialist functions as an interdisciplinary team member, assisting professional and non-professional personnel as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team. • Entering appropriate information into the electronic record; monitoring pre-appointment information and/or requirements to assure readiness for patient visit/procedure.
• Managing patient systems to verify and validate accuracy and resolve issues; evaluating patient information and clinic schedule lists to determine whether the patient requires an immediate appointment; informing team members about shared patients.

The duties of the position may include but, are not limited to:

• Supervises employees determining the method of payment for authorized and unauthorized mileage reimbursement and ambulance claims submitted for consideration.
• Monitors receipt of invoices for payment of transportation services and supervises processing them through the Invoice Payment Processing System (IPSS), the electronic Claims Adjudication Management System (eCAMS), and the Beneficiary Travel Self Service System (BTSSS).
• Investigates authorizations, orders, and/or utilizes the Computerized Patient Records System (CPRS) to review medical records and submits all documents for payment utilizing appropriate control point references.
• Liaison between vendors and Fiscal Service for contracting.
• Writes or selects appropriate letters explaining the disposition of unauthorized travel claims.
• Provides budgetary advice on the application of VA budget guidelines to program officials and their representatives.
• Develops budget estimates to be used in proposals for new programs and planning efforts as requested by Medical Center management.

Assignment: Supervises multiple supply series of consumable medical supply/inventory used in the healthcare system as well as the micro-purchase program. Recognized as the Commodity Management Division's subject matter expert and serves as advisor and consultant on inventory management matters. Plans, directs and manages the activities to include inventory management, supply management, receiving, purchasing, distribution, control of facility, pandemic, environmental supplies, office supplies, non-OIT consignment and prosthetics consumables, equipment instrumentation and applicable services.

Supply Management - Inventory Management, Control and Distribution 60%

• Oversees the inventory management, control and distribution of expendable inventory for a VA HCS and supported catchment area.
• Ensures maximum effectiveness in the management of inventories.
• Establishes procedures and oversees and reviews physical inventories and supply reconciliation.
• Establishes reporting techniques to foresee any potential problems in Supply control.
• Resolves any problem areas identified by the use of data and interpretation of such factors as value of items, volume purchase advantages, market conditions, storage facilities, holding characteristics, administrative costs, seasonal variations, cost of transportation, susceptibility of change and fluctuations, source of supply, and method of procurement.
• Plans the grouping of items and establishment of cycles of acquisition that will most nearly accommodate the best combination of these conditions, both marketing and otherwise.
• Analyzes, studies, develops, and directs systems in connection with the EX requirements in the medical center's annual budget development and strategic planning.
• Inventory accountability responsibilities may require site reviews throughout the VA HCS catchment area.
• Implements best practices, principles, tools and concepts to evaluate and improve supply system performance.
• Interfaces with peers, stakeholders and customers throughout the VA HCS and supported catchment area to coordinate management and control and resolve any issues or discrepancies.
• Develops strategies for implementing all future EX automated replacement systems, supply technologies and/or business practices.
• Coordinates with technical specialists on evaluating the impact of anticipated new technologies on supply processes and customer services; resolves conflicting requirements of several supply program areas.
• Serves as a member the Clinical Product Review Committee (CPRC).

• Supervises employees from separate but interrelated units comprised of the Inventory Management, Medical Supply Distribution and may include the Purchasing section
• Makes recommendations for promotions, reassignments and awards; and conducts semi-annual and annual performance reviews.
• Assists subordinate staff with performance issues as necessary; schedules and grants leave; and monitors overtime usage.
• Resolves informal complaints and grievances, discusses corrective actions with employees, and recommends appropriate disciplinary and/or adverse action.
• Assists in hiring and successfully transitioning new hires into the position.
• Develops the ability of subordinate staff as appropriate to perform and contribute to the organization through coaching, mentoring, providing ongoing feedback, and by granting opportunities to learn through formal and informal methods.
• Writes, develops, interprets and implements policies and procedures to ensure an efficient program, in order to avoid inefficiency at the medical center and supported catchment area.
• Continually assesses the operation of this program and develops and recommends new or revised procedures and directives, as needed, to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
• Ensures assigned areas of responsibility are in compliance with applicable policies, regulations, and guidance including safety.
• Assesses training and educational needs of the Logistics Service in order to develop, present, and evaluate effectiveness of training plans.
• Implements training programs and generates detailed reports as to the status and effectiveness of training plans.

• Manages Federal and agency programs for the return and reutilization of medical supplies.
• Ensures compliance and immediate response to the VA National Center for Patient Safety Recall Office.
• Approves emergent procurement decisions in coordination with stakeholders based on back order issues created by national recalls
• Serves as the utilization and disposal official for excess consumables.
• Other duties as assigned.
