Within the United States Copyright Office (USCO), the Office of Copyright Records is responsible for establishing records policies and preserving, maintaining, and servicing copyright-related records. This Office records transfers of copyright ownership and notices of termination, makes copyright registrations and documents and related information available to the public, researches and provides certified and non-certified copies of copyright registration deposits, ensures their storage, retention, and security, and performs records management and safeguards the official records of the U. S. Copyright Office. The Office of Copyright Records oversees the world’s largest repository of records on copyright ownership.

The Recordation Division is responsible for examining and recording documents that are filed with the Office under Sections 203, 205, 302, 304,903, and 1320 of the Copyright Act. The Recordation Division is part of the Office of Copyright Records. Among its other responsibilities, this Office is also responsible for recording interim designation of agents that are filed under Section 512(c)(2) of the Copyright Act.

Analyzes the nature of procedural copyright problems or questions. Performs various routine tasks at the developmental/trainee level that are assigned to increase the employee's knowledge and understanding of the functions of the document recordation process. Determines, in consultation with a senior documents specialist or supervisor, whether the document meets all recordation criteria, whether the document is acceptable for recordation, and whether the legal and formal requirements of the copyright law pertaining to document recordation have been met.

Catalogs significant features of a work under the guidance of more experienced coworkers or the supervisor. The incumbent gradually works with increasingly difficult materials, learning to catalog significant features of documents in the online catalog and typing recordation titles as they apply to the eCO Siebel record. Significant features of a document include the parties involved, the dates of recordation and execution, and other pertinent data which defines and identifies the specific documents and its contents. 

The incumbent must be proficient at properly scanning documents to databases and printing certificates of recordation. 

Prepares preliminary or final correspondence, which involves basic problem solving, the use of judgment and discretion in recommending specific types of action, such as prepared language, original letter, telephone call, or email. Signs and forwards outgoing correspondence which the incumbent is authorized to send on his/her own authority.

• Serves as advisor to the Assistant Chief Information Officer (ACIO) on all aspects of the Farm Production and Conservation (FPAC) systems and applications, databases, tools, and services.
• Provides centralized design, development, and maintenance support of the FPAC systems, applications and tools.

In this role you will be supporting clients at the assessment hub, readying them for move on and helping clients to obtain longer term accommodation. The service supports clients who have been referred by the local authority and outreach teams. This is not always possible due to the complex nature of move on, but the service plays a pivotal role in the lives of many homeless people.

The Associate Chief Counsel Corporate employs approximately 40 attorneys who work in our National Office in Washington, DC. These attorneys provide published guidance, field support, and legal advice on tax matters involving corporate organizations, reorganizations, liquidations, spin-offs, transfers to controlled corporations, distributions, to shareholders, debt vs. equity determinations, bankruptcies, and consolidated return issues affecting groups of affiliated corporations, among other matters.

As an Attorney-Adviser (Tax) - Assistant to the Branch Chief, you will provide a full range of legal tax advice and management related duties. You will perform the full range of legal work within the Branch, serve as a technical reviewer, and perform specific management duties as assigned. Assignments include but are not limited to:

• Assist the Chief in determining work priorities and work schedules. Follow up on work assigned to attorneys within the Branch and alert supervisor to any potential delays. Assist the supervisor in planning work to accomplished by Branch employees and determining work priorities and schedules for completion of work.
• Assist in the review of work products from branch employees and recommend to Branch Chief and/or Senior Technician Reviewer the acceptance or revision of work. The Senior Technician Reviewer (STR), is responsible for some of the most complicated, difficult, and unusual assignments and projects in the Branch. In consultation with the Branch Chief, the incumbent is responsible for the assignment of selected cases and projects to the attorneys within the Branch and for review of the work products. The primary work of the Branch involves the development and drafting of Internal Revenue regulations and considering recommendations for enactment of legislation and the promulgation of regulations, preparation of private letter rulings, revenue rulings, technical advice memoranda, General Counsel memoranda, and other advice memoranda addressing tax problems submitted by taxpayers and their representatives, state and federal agencies, and other Chief Counsel and IRS offices.
