What to Expect

• May operate cash register and be responsible for own change fund. 
• Work involves light to moderate physical effort such as continuous standing, walking, frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending.

• May be required to serve food cafeteria-style to patrons or serve tables, family-style by placing dishes of food on tables and refilling as necessary.
• Maintains accurate food inventories and rotates stock items to prevent spoilage.
• Work areas are often uncomfortably warm and noisy. Workers are exposed to minor cuts, bruises, burns, scalds and the possibility of slipping on wet floors. Some workers are exposed to extreme temperatures of hot kitchens, walk-in refrigerators and freezing units.
• May be required to perform heavy work such as scouring and scrubbing equipment/floors, pushing heavy carts and trucks in unloading, storing and delivering supplies.
• Performs other related duties as required.

• Plans and coordinates daily work tasks with hospital or clinic staff and work leader or supervisor to ensure all patient care areas are cleaned and ready for use in a timely manner so that patientcare and schedules are not compromised.
• Cleans various areas such as in-patient rooms and bathrooms, public restrooms, operating rooms, labor/delivery, exam rooms, halls, walls, floors, furnishings, equipment, windows, offices, outside entrances, etc., wiping surfaces using proper cleaning techniques, universal precautions, and chemicals
• Inspects, sorts, folds, counts, stores, and distributes clean linen following standard protocol.
• Interacts with laundry contract staff on quality control issues.
• Vacuums, sweeps and mops floors and maintains floors such as tile (stripping & waxing), hardwood floors, carpet (spotting and extracting), and linoleum. Uses heavy equipment such as high-speed polishers and carpet extractors.

• Prepares reoccurring and special reports and presentation materials that document and explain the status of funds, expenses, and obligations. Contributes to larger, more complex reporting requirements originating from the office of Management and Budget (0MB), the Department, Congress, etc.
• Reviews agency and office budget submissions and obligating documents for reasonableness, accuracy, and conformance with procedures and guidelines.
• Maintains complex databases, register, and other accounting/tracking systems to monitor and track obligations, expenditures, and the flow of funds. Ensures fund availability for the processing of obligating documents. Performs regular analysis of
  obligations and expenditures to ensure required limitations are observed, to identify cost trends, and to assist in the development and allocation of funds.
• Provides support to managers and program staff in the budget formulation process by researching and compiling background and historical data to assist in the development of budget estimates and justifications and to identify the cost of

• Works with managers in the development of annual work plans and schedules for the execution of approved budgets. Recommends programming and adjustments to work plans to account for changes in funding levels, program
  priorities, and unanticipated expenses.
