You really will be working on the front line and be the face of Thames Water to our customers.
Every year, we carry out over 500,000 tests on samples of water that we routinely collect from our treatment works, reservoirs, and randomly selected customer properties, to ensure your drinking water is of the highest quality.
What you’ll be doing as a Customer Sampling Technician
- You will take part in an out-of-hours roster which includes weekends working on a rota. (1 working weekend in 5).
- This role involves extensive travel between customers and sites, and you will be working as part of a busy team across a wide geographical area.
- It will be your responsibility to test water samples, and you’ll oversee managing the maintenance of your sampling records and sampling equipment to industry standards.
- You may also investigate supply issues and customer complaints.
- Base Location: Walton-on-Thames.
- Working Pattern or hours: from 7:30 to 3.30 pm, unless working standby.
What you should bring to the role
- Previous experience covering Driving and Customer Service will be required, as frequently cold calling customers in their homes, and long periods spent driving/navigating.
- Have the confidence to ‘cold call’ upon residential and commercial properties.
- A clean manual driving license is required.
- Ability to plan journeys efficiently as well as good driving knowledge.
- Be organized and work well on your own.
- Have excellent attention to detail.
- Have existing knowledge or be open to learning about the water industry and processes relevant to this area of work.
- Good computer literacy.
