To help organise and facilitate co-design workshops with community groups and individuals with lived experience of psychosis from Bangladeshi, Black African, and Black Caribbean backgrounds. Overview of the Role: We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join Dr. Becky Carlyle's lab as part of a collaborative project led by Professor Paul Harrison (Oxford Psychiatry). The project involves partnerships with Professor Carol Robinson (Oxford Chemistry), Dr. Thomas Hyde (Lieber Institute for Brain Development), and Professor Gary Stephens (Reading Pharmacology). The ideal candidate will have experience with membrane protein enrichment and preparation for mass-spectrometry analysis. A key focus will be developing assays to detect and quantify calcium channel conformations and interactomes, contributing to research on psychiatric disease mechanisms within a vibrant, international team. This is a 3-year position, available immediately.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new Research Nurse to come and work within the Cardiovascular Research team. The post holder will work as part of the Research Team, predominately within the Oxford Heart Centre and the University Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, who are involved in a wide spectrum of clinical research ranging from observational studies to early phase clinical studies and trials, to large multi-centre randomised trials. Key roles include:
• Working with Principal Investigators (PIs) and their teams to manage and co-ordinate the processes and care involved with patients participating in clinical research studies.

An opportunity has arisen for anenthusiastic, motivated Research Nurse to come and work within the Cardiovascular Research team. The post holder will work predominantly within the Oxford Heart Centre on a variety of clinical research studies, ranging from observational studies to large multi-centre randomised trials.

The Cardiovascular Team is a team of dedicated nurses, coordinators and data coordinators who work together to provide a quality service for the rolling program of cardiovascular research studies, trials and projects undertaken within the OUH.

We are looking for a registered nurse with excellent clinical and organisational skills, who is able to manage a patient caseload. They will need excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Research experience would be an advantage but not essential as training will be given.

The post holder will have ownership over a number of studies and will be the initial point of contact for patients on these studies. The post holder will be supported by the wider research team lead by the Lead Cardiac Research Nurse Manager and Principle Investigators.

The post is a 12 month fixed term contract.

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join Prof Molly Stevens’s lab at the Kavli Institute for Nanoscience Discovery. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with strong expertise in organic chemistry who is also a confident self-starter, a collaborative team player, and demonstrate a proven track record of first-author publications in peer-reviewed journals.

In this role, you will develop a diagnostic platform applying the in-house developed technique SPARTA™ to the analysis of extracellular vesicles as potential disease biomarkers. The post will involve a range of nanobiomaterial characterisation techniques and the application of multivariate data analysis methods for sample classification.

This post is available from January 2025 for a fixed-term of 12 months, with the possibility of part-time appointments being considered.

Key responsibilities:
• Develop Single Particle Automated Raman Trapping Analysis (SPARTA™) as a non-invasive disease diagnostic technique based on EVs as biomarkers.
• Develop a deep understanding of EV biochemistry, Raman fingerprints and surface protein expression.
• Evaluate the performance of the technique with model systems and patient samples.
• Undertake the associated data analysis and interpretation, ensuring validity and reliability of data at all times, including either developing or liaising with others to use chemometrics, ML/AI algorithms and/or multivariate analysis.

Can we reduce the climate impacts of aircraft? As well as carbon dioxide, aircraft engines emit oxides of nitrogen (NOx). You will investigate how important these NOx emissions might be for climate and whether the climate effects are different in the northern and southern hemispheres. Do engine manufacturers need to reduce these NOx emissions?
The climate impact of aircraft is aggravated by the emissions of NOx. In the upper troposphere these emissions form ozone which is an important greenhouse gas, but they also increase the destruction of methane. The overall effect of aircraft NOx on climate is very uncertain. The ozone production is largest in the northern hemisphere, but the methane destruction is more even. Hence the net effect is likely to be different in the different hemispheres.
To work as part of a team within the NERC CRANE (Climate Response to Aviation NOx Emissions) project. This is a component of the NERC/Department for Transport programme – “Jet zero: aviation’s non-CO2 impacts on the climate”.
The main role is to set up and run simulations using the UK Earth system model (UKESM1.1), which includes representations of tropospheric and stratospheric chemistry, and to analyse the outputs from these. This will involve changing the emissions of NOx from aviation in the model to quantify how these changes affect the composition of the atmosphere (methane, ozone, stratospheric water vapour and aerosols), the radiative forcing and the full climate response on different hemispheres. This will be original research carried forward to publications in leading peer-reviewed journals, and presented at national and international scientific meetings.
The job holder will interact with project partners, attend project meetings, and contribute to the departmental research environment (e.g., seminars and group meetings).

Responsible for the management and Coordination of the Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) research study across the Thames Valley and UK wide Co-ordinate recruitment of participants while incorporating collection of confidential patient information and samples to be dispatched to the genetic laboratory Liaise with the Chief Investigator (C.I) and assigned Research Nurse Ensure all paper and electronic study documentation, including regulatory and approval documents, contracts and finance, staff certification, training and case report forms, are filed in the trial master files (TMF) The TMF being kept up to date at all times for monitoring and audit purposes. Work at all times in accordance with The International Conference on Harmonisation Good Clinical Practice Guidelines (ICH-GCP).

Research Grants Manager (Maternity Leave Cover) (175635) This post may be offered as a secondment opportunity.

Grade 7: Salary in the range of £37,524 - £45,763 per annum.
Although this job is advertised at grade 7, we are willing to offer grade 8 to a candidate with significant experience and skills in managing a similar portfolio size and leading the administration of the Biomedical Research Centre.

We are seeking to recruit a highly experienced and organised Research Grants Manager to join our busy Research Grants team at the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS), located at the Botnar Research Centre, Oxford.

This exciting position combines line management responsibilities for a small team alongside directly managing a portfolio of research groups. The postholder will be required to act as a financial guide, providing professional and flexible financial management to research groups, to support the achievement of the department’s strategic objectives. The post provides a crucial role in the running of the Botnar Institute, liaising between Botnar academics, University Professional Services teams and external grant funders.

You will work closely with colleagues within the Institute, departmental colleagues and Research Accounts throughout the lifecycle of grants; ensuring all eligible costs have been added to each grant and confirming total spend to allow accurate reporting to the funder. You will provide timely, regular and accurate reports and detailed analysis on the research funding portfolio, and associated risks, to the Principal Investigators and senior management, so that they have a sound financial evidence base to assess how best to utilise their grant budgets. You will liaise with external sponsors, collaborating Universities and other University of Oxford Departments on grant award management.

You will be educated to a degree level or equivalent qualification. You will have a sound and in-depth knowledge of grant funders and post-award management together with ability to create, analyse and understand financial data. You will be a highly organised and accurate with ability to work well as a member of close-knit team and independently. Experience of using online grant application forms and working knowledge of X5, Oracle Financials and PeopleXD are desirable.

This is a full-time maternity leave cover appointment for 12 months. This post is available from 1 December 2024.
