At an ICS level the post holder will also support the medicines governance group via the delegated authority of the Pharmacy Governance Team which includes the Medication Safety Officer (MSO).

The post holder will be responsible for the co-ordination of day-to-day effective management of theatre lists, including the running of services and allocation of staff. They will be responsible for directing and overseeing main theatres daily activities closely with the Manager of the day (MOD) for Theatres. They will trouble shoot issues as they arise and escalate them throught the appropriate processes.

Clinical Responsibilities

· Assist and advice all staff in the delivery of patient care.

· Acknowledge personal preferences, rights and choice of patients undergoing surgery.

· Maintain health, safety and the control of infection in clinical work areas in line with Trust policies and procedures.

· Prepare, monitor, report and maintain materials and equipment for clinical procedures.

· Act as a patients’ advocate.

· Ensure all cleaning and maintenance is undertaken daily.

· Ensure all faults are reported and rectified effectively and efficiently.

· Promote high standards of care by demonstrating the ability to improve and empower the team, along with acting as a role model always.

· Liaise and work closely with the emergency Co-ordinators to facilitate emergency cases been done in timely manner, interrupting elective cases when needed. This includes any obstetric emergencies.

· Use of managerial computer systems and programmes to assist in the everyday running of the theatre lists.e.g. ESR

· Trouble shooting and liaising with the appropriate people to ensure the day to day running theatre lists.

Communication

· Ensure effective communication paths are maintained within the theatre department.

· Liaise with estates and medical engineering to ensure safe and effective running of theatres.

· Provide expert advice to all theatre staff and lead day to day problem solving and planning.

· Communicate complex, sensitive information concerning patients, relatives, staff and operational issues requiring negotiation and diplomatic skills to relevant staff.

· Responsible for ensuring that all staff are well informed of any changes occurring within the working day particularly in relations to operating sessions.

· Communications effectively always and maintain a harmonious working environment.

· Be able to effectively support a team member who is experiencing distress which could affect working performance.

· Participate and lead team meetings, huddles maintaining effective communications between all staff members, departmental, trust wide and externally.

This is an exciting role to join the Business and Transformation team in CWPTs Adult and Older Adult Mental Health Directorate. We are the organisation largest directorate and this is a senior leadership role. The post holder will have autonomy and be responsible for the delivery of quality and operational improvement strategy. The role will be critical to support delivery of directorate and trust objectives by enhancing clinical models of care.
