- Receives, examines, verifies, and identifies complex categories of materials and equipment. Such as those which are unclassified, perishable, classified, hazardous, sensitive, and Arms, Ammunition & Explosives (AA&E). Performs comprehensive research of shipping records, equipment specifications, and manufacturing manuals as required for item/equipment identification.
- Performs a broad range of standard traffic management in-checking assignments. Identifies and segregates hazardous, classified, AA&E, and sensitive cargo requiring special handling during in-checking. Performs technical research required in directing proper handling, in-checking, storage, marking, labeling, documentation of classified, hazardous, AA&E, and sensitive cargo in accordance with guidelines, directives, policy, regulations and procedures.
- Reviews Commercial Bills of Lading (CBL), carrier freight bills, truck manifests, and inspects shipments for any discrepancies to AA&E, classified, hazardous or general cargo and ensures dating is correct, properly identified, packaged, marked and labeled. Utilizes safety and security practices and procedures following established rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work area.
- Monitors special programs, computerized listings, and documentation/records and completes Supply Discrepancy Report (SDR) and Transportation Discrepancy Report (TDR). Investigates and reconciles discrepancies relating to actions, such as receipt of AA&E, classified, hazardous and sensitive cargo by searching different automated computer systems and databases to extract information and identify reason(s) for discrepancy.
- Performs a full range of warehousing duties. Serves as a senior worker overseeing one or more product lines or a segment of a large warehouse, assisting the supervisor in development of plans for temporary storage and arrangement of received cargo. Uses and maintains tools and equipment. Uses hand and industrial power tools, such as hammers, drills, crowbars, table and radial saws, and pneumatic nail guns, to repair/replace cargo containers received in damaged/unserviceable condition.
