We are looking for a highly motivated Medical Education Fellow to join our dynamic medical education team.

The role will allow the opportunity to develop teaching skills, extend knowledge of educational theory and undertake educational research. It will suit an individual who has an interest in medical education and educational research and there may be an opportunity to participate in one day of clinical work a week and to join the OOH rota following discussion with the Director of Medical Education.

The level will be ST4+ or equivalent. The Medical Education Fellow, as well as being responsible to the DME will also be supported by a dedicated team of medical education officers.

The postholder will be an integral member of the educational faculty at Oxleas and will have the opportunity to observe and contribute to all aspects of the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes (including teaching medical students in various locations across the Trust) and gaining an understanding of the structure and governance within medical education.
You will assist the Director of Medical Education in the planning and delivery of medical student inductions, faculty development programmes, and other undergraduate and postgraduate educational activities. You will also support the DME with the Trainees interested in Medical Education (TiMEd) Scheme of the Trust and faculty facing courses such as the intensive clinical supervisors’ course and the ‘Teaching for Doctors’ workshop.
Additionally, the postholder will be expected to plan and deliver regular teaching sessions to various medical learner groups within Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust.
Furthermore, the postholder will be expected to deliver weekly tutorials to our Year 4 Medical Students as well as act as educational supervisor for up to four of these students.

During a period of staff absence or business need, this role is responsible for the planning and delivery of high-quality lessons which truly inspires and influences our learners’ future life’s. In addition, this role will develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders by delivering excellence in everything they do in response to business need or leadership requirements. As part of this role the SCL Cover Supervisor will be involved in working with learners on a face-to-face group, virtual group and/or one-to-one basis, delivering all aspects of qualification when/if required.

This role will also provide bespoke and responsive support to the curriculum leadership team in line with the business need so that the learner experience for all is exceptional. This activity will be agreed with line management and will take place around your lesson cover or during periods where lesson cover is not required.

Key Requirements; -

• At least a Level 3 in the subject which is being taught
• At least a Level 2 in English and Maths
• A recognised secondary or post 16 teaching qualification e.g., PGCE, DTTLS OT A1 Award (or willingness to work towards)
• Relevant degree in subject being taught

- Adhere to all client and company health & safety policies and procedures at all times e.g. food handling, manual handling, fire procedures.

- Complete, maintain and update all food safety and health & safety paperwork correctly on a continual basis to ensure full compliance.

- Maintain the cleanliness of all kitchens and surrounding working areas ensuring health & safety hazards, issues, near misses & accidents are reported to your line manager at the earliest opportunity.

- Ensure food production methods and all meals are delivered to the required quality standards at the specified times to create a consistent customer experience and avoid any service failures or penalties.

- Provide the highest level of customer service by demonstrating THG values and behaviours at all times to colleagues, customers and clients.

- Assist with the receipt, correct storage and quality of food supply and report any concerns or observations to your line manager.

- Ensure hot plate procedures including food information regulations and reference intake labelling are in place and followed by the team.

- Ensure the recovery and storage of food and correct labelling procedures are followed.

- Follow all recipes provided to ensure full compliance with nutritional/dietary requirements.

- Comply with menu cycles reporting any discrepancies to your line manager.

- Assist with conducting and monitoring all stocktaking procedures ensuring minimal risk of waste.

- Attend regular training as directed by your line manager according to the requirements of the company.

- Be flexible and comply with any reasonable requests made by your line manager including if necessary working within other units within reasonable distance.
