POSITION OVERVIEW - HEAD OF OPERATIONS AND DEVELOPMENT:

As the Head of Operations and Development South Region, you will play a key role in overseeing and optimising the day-to-day functioning of our supported living and residential care services in London and the surrounding area.

You will be responsible for overseeing care and support services across several local authority areas, ensuring excellent quality and full regulatory compliance, driving continuous improvement, managing significant budgets and working closely with the business development team to continue to grow the number of services we operate.

The Harrow Community Therapy Service is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, experienced candidate who is looking to develop their knowledge and skills within a friendly team. Exceptional support is readily available with a robust supervision & CPD structure. You need to be a team player as well as an autonomous practitioner.

You will receive professional guidance and direction from senior Therapists (Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists). As part of your development, there are opportunities to experience colleagues working in a range of partner settings, and to develop your supervisory skills with Therapy Support Workers and students.

You will be working closely with the other internal Integrated and Specialist Community Services, including, Community Nursing, Speech and Language, Tissue Viability, Falls and Rapid Response services. Occupational Therapist (Harrow Community) - Band 5

The Harrow Community Therapy Service is looking for a suitable newly qualified who is looking to develop their knowledge and skills within a friendly team. Support is readily available and a supervision and CPD structure is in place and encouraged by the service.

You will receive professional guidance and direction from senior Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists. As part of your development, there are opportunities to experience colleagues working in a range of partner settings, and to develop your supervisory skills with Therapy Support Workers and students.

You will be working closely with the other internal Integrated and Specialist Community Services, including, Community Nursing, Speech and Language, Tissue Viability, Falls and Rapid Response services. You will also be required to work closely with Primary Care Network Colleagues, Frailty Service and the Hospital Discharge Team to support hospital discharge

It is also essential to hold a full valid driving licence and have access to a car to use regularly for business purposes

You will be required to complete electronic patient records (training provided)

The position is full time (37.5 hours per week) but in line with our flexible working approach we welcome applications for part time contracts. A seven-day working pattern will be required to cover weekends and bank holidays on a rostered/rotational basis.





MANAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP

· To assist Specialist Occupational Therapist in supervising, providing planned advice, teaching, support and instruction to therapy assistants, key workers, relatives and carers, to promote understanding of the aims of therapy intervention and to ensure a co-ordinated approach to patient care.

· To delegate to, teach and supervise the work of Therapy Assistants and Technical Instructors with guidance from senior staff.

· To work with other health care professionals on joint assessments, patient goals and treatment programmes in a patient centred approach.

o To undertake comprehensive assessment independently, plan and formulate an individual management and/or treatment programme, using clinical reasoning methods incorporating skills to implement therapeutic intervention:

o Analytical skills

o Investigative skills

o Organisational skills

o Range of physical treatment skills

o Time management skills

· To independently carry out rehabilitation and care programmes aimed at improving or maximising independence and reflect the client’s own goals established with the MDT (addressing performance and skills deficits enabling the client in areas of self-maintenance, productivity, and leisure).

This fellowship year will provide specialist training in the following:- MDT administration and delivery for tertiary referrals Pre and post-op ward rounds Surgical multidisciplinary procedures Clinics & theatre list Clinical research including data collection and audit. Preparation of abstracts and papers for presentation and publication The post is dedicated to the development of high level clinical and research experience in the field of spinal deformity correctionAdditionally the fellow will prepare a surgical plan for each patient. Participation and presentation of interesting/complex cases at the weekly multi-disciplinary team meetings for spinal deformity patients. In addition to routine clinical commitments and research session the fellow may also be called upon to occasionally teach MSc students, specialist registrars and more.
