The incumbent serves as the Assistant Chief of Health Information Management (ACHIM). This position reports to the Chief of Health Information Management (CHIM). Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• The incumbent serves as the Assistant Chief of Health Information Management (ACHIM) in a medical facility of high complexity (level 1), with responsibility for the supervision of all HIM functions. Incumbent is charged with full responsibility, both technical and administrative, for the daily operation of the HIM department which consists of all functions of health record activities related to coding, health record documentation analysis, transcription/speech recognition, release of information, file room/scanning programs, and health information exchange.
• Provides expertise, guidance and direction and has responsibilities relative to providing supervision, administrative support, coordination, and technical assistance in the planning, development and maintenance of an effective, comprehensive, and integrated HIM Program at this Medical Center.
• Assists the Chief of Health Information Management (CHIM) in the planning, directing, policy making, organizing and controlling the activities of this department and serves as acting CHIM in the absence of the CHIM.
• In conjunction with the CHIM responsible for collecting and processing data for various reports, surveys, and research projects.
• Responsible for assisting physicians and other health professionals in obtaining health record information to be used in research projects.
• Advises on what material is available, how it may be obtained and the uses that can be made of the information while protecting the confidentiality of the record.
• Aids in a variety of projects and is responsible for screening, abstracting and tallying data from records and computer generated reports.
• Serves as a consultant to provide guidance and advise researchers on methods for gathering data.
• Assists in selected miscellaneous retrospective health record review/data abstraction projects to support medical center Quality Management data collection activities.
• Provides technical guidance to the unit supervisors and lead clerks while providing support to each unit in the absence of the section supervisor.
• Provides expertise in the area of subpoenas, court orders, advance directives, and general release of information, as well as other medico-legal issues.
• Responsible for keeping abreast of changes that are constantly being made in the health information field as well as allied medical fields and applying the information and knowledge gathered to the operations of the hospital.
• Participates in various facility, VISN and national committees requiring health information management subject matter expertise.
• The incumbent shares responsibility with the CHIM for collecting and processing data for various reports, surveys, and research projects; for preparing reports and recommendations for review and consideration by the Chief of HIMS.
• Responsible for assisting physicians and other health professionals in obtaining health record information to be used in research projects. Advises on what material is available.
• Provides effective audits and monitors for all areas of responsibility, assuring that accurate and timely data is processed by all employees. Reviews work accomplished and assesses quality, quantity, accuracy and timeliness of work produced by each employee. Ascertains problems encountered and takes corrective action.
• Develops performance standards and conducts performance evaluations. Develops and conducts competency assessments. Responsible for carrying out established personnel functions and practices. Keeps employees informed about important aspects of personnel management programs. Formulates and initiates performance standards. Interviews prospective employees, recommends selection, and carries out training and development of assignments, awards or disciplinary action.
• Is a subject matter expert on 0675 and 0669 qualification standards and how to appropriately apply them. Provides administrative support to other HIM Supervisors/Leads by aiding in the selection, training and evaluation of section employees. Provides technical guidance to the unit supervisors and lead clerks while providing support to each unit in the absence of the section supervisor.
• Work is of an analytical, evaluative, and creative nature, and incumbent is responsible for keeping abreast of constant changes in the health information field as well as allied medical fields and applying the information and knowledge gathered to the operations of the hospital.

As Director of the Acquisitions Division the incumbent will be responsible for providing the day-to-day management, planning, leadership and oversight of a full range of acquisitions and contract administration activities.The incumbent will provide managerial leadership, technical direction and oversight for OIG Acquisitions Division as follows:

• Directs all contracting and procurement activities;
• Provides advise and technical information;
• Advises, guides and collaborates with OIG senior-level management officials to develop and formulate acquisition plans and policies;
• Directs the planning and execution of pre-award and post-award contracting functions;

• Responsible for establishing and administering an integrated system of financial staff services, which contribute to efficient and effective management controls over the facility's operations and require complex analysis of essential statistical data that facilitates decision making by executive leadership.
• Responsible for maintaining, tracking, reconciling budgeting, accounting, various programs and activities, and analytical reporting of managerial financing and essential statistical data for executive leadership.

As a Chief Learning Officer, you will perform the following duties:

• Direct and manage corporate learning and development programs for all of GSA. Ensure that long-range learning initiatives are aligned with GSA’s mission, strategic goals, and priorities. Provide leadership and direction for enterprise-wide training and development programs, which includes managing and developing all virtual/on-line training programs as well as overseeing the operation of GSA’s learning management system.

This Program Director position is located within the Division of Translational Impacts (TI), Directorate for Technology, Innovation and Partnerships (TIP). The incumbent will be responsible for the NSF Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs. The main goal of the SBIR/STTR programs are to stimulate the Nation's technological innovation. The SBIR/STTR programs play a key role in translating technical innovation and scientific discovery into commercial outcomes, and associated broader societal impact, through support of innovation research at small business enterprises. The program is designed to support the commercialization of deep technologies, which grow from discoveries in fundamental science and engineering.

The TI division advances the impacts of NSF-funded research by accelerating the translation of research results to practice, including new technologies, companies, and industries as well as new policies, educational interventions, and other broad societal impacts. TI will focus on programs that accelerate the translation of research results to practice. In addition to the lab to market platform, in the future, TI investments will support additional avenues for translational impact, including pathways to (i) nonprofits supporting open-source ecosystems, (ii) adoption by state and local governments, and (iii) deployment in support of the missions of other federal agencies. TI collaborates with all of NSF's other directorates and offices, inspiring additional translational activity across NSF.

Major Duties

The incumbent serves as a Program Director for the SBIR/STTR programs and is assigned responsibility for planning, support, management, and implementation of the Foundation's small business research activities. The SBIR/STTR programs offer an opportunity and incentive for small, creative engineering, science, education, and technology-related firms, wherein they may conduct innovative high-risk research on important scientific and technical problems -work that could have significant public benefit if the research is successful. The major objective of the Program is to increase the nation's economic competitiveness through the support of high technology small business innovative research in all geographies. To ensure that the program's outreach efforts, program officers are working remotely in order to serve all regions of the country. In the post-award phase, program officers are expected to engage with awardees through regular travel.

The SBIR/STTR Program Directors are responsible for:

• Spearheading NSF's merit review process, which relies on advice and feedback from technical and commercial experts to guide NSF funding decisions regarding SBIR and STTR applications; Working closely with awardee companies before, during, and after NSF funding, to provide guidance and mentorship and to maximize the chance of project and company success;
• Conducting due diligence on potential SBIR and STTR awardee small businesses in advance of funding recommendations, in order to ensure the highest quality of funded
  projects and to ensure that NSF policies and procedures are followed;
• Working with the program staff NSF-wide, as well as external communities of innovators, entrepreneurs, and investors, to apprise them to the opportunities and requirements of the SBIR/STTR programs;
• Designing, developing, managing, coordinating, and implementing small business
  solicitations, conferences, publications, and reports;
• Developing and presenting clear and concise explanations and interpretations of NSF
  policies and research program initiatives for small businesses, the academic community, large industrial firms, the investment community, state and local governments, and other federal agencies.
