INTRODUCTION:
We are seeking an accomplished Director of Data Engineering to join our team and drive our data transformation. This is an exciting opportunity for a data enthusiast who is passionate about working with cutting-edge technologies, developing large scale data solutions for the fitness industry, and broadening their skill set within an organization that values continuous learning and innovation.
As the Director of Data Engineering, you will play a key role in managing and evolving our Azure-based data infrastructure, developing strategic data initiatives, and working closely with our existing Director of Data Warehousing to optimize and build upon our data-driven decision-making processes. Your outstanding communication skills will be pivotal in bridging the gap between the technical and business worlds, ensuring that complex data challenges are clearly communicated and efficiently addressed.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive strategic vision for the data engineering function that aligns with the company's broader objectives.
- Work closely with the Director of Data Warehousing to ensure the design, development, and maintenance of our Azure-based data warehouse (Synapse) meets and exceeds business needs.
- Implement efficient data processing systems using Azure Data Factory, and oversee the development of high-performance data pipelines that ensure data quality and integrity.
- Collaborate with various organizational leaders and stakeholders to deliver precise data solutions that address their unique needs.
- Guide the optimization of ETL processes and work alongside the data warehousing team to steer our journey toward a more data-driven future.
- Foster a data-driven culture within the organization and advocate for the use of data and analytics in decision-making across all levels.
- Lead and mentor a dynamic data engineering team, promoting a culture of continuous innovation and providing opportunities for professional development.
- Oversee the development and implementation of data governance and privacy policies, ensuring compliance with industry standards and legal requirements.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in data engineering, and introduce cutting-edge innovations into our practices.
- Use your strong English communication skills to clearly articulate our data strategy to stakeholders and senior management, and dive into the heart of data challenges to resolve them efficiently.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience (less years required with advanced degrees), with at least 5 years of managerial experience.
- Exceptional written and oral communication when interacting with audiences of both technical and non-technical backgrounds.
- Proven expertise in managing large-scale data warehouses and ETL processes.
- Exceptional knowledge of Azure technologies, including but not limited to Synapse, Azure Data Factory, and Power BI, and a commitment to staying current with Azure's latest products and services.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, and other data manipulation languages.
- Deep understanding of data architecture, data modeling, and performance tuning.
- Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and guide a team towards success.
- Superior English communication skills, capable of addressing complex data challenges clearly and efficiently to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent strategic planning and project management skills.
- Current knowledge of data privacy regulations and best practices.

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only and based on employees in the United States and may be different in other countries. Salaries are based upon candidate experience, qualifications, and location, as well as market and business considerations. Our pay range for U.S. based candidates for this position is $150,000-- $215,000 USD annually. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the job location during the hiring process. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses.

Salaries are based upon candidate experience, qualifications, and location, as well as market and business considerations. Our pay range for Canada based candidates for this position is $140,500-- $195,100 CAD annually.
