Main Responsibilities for Mechanical Team Leader:

• Responsible for distributing team workload, organizing the team in response to unplanned events, manage workload across the team.


• Responsible for analysing the resource requirements for emerging work, provide forecasts of manning levels due to absences etc.


• Ensure that instructions, materials, tools and equipment required by the team are available.


• Issue and communicate safety documentation/information to their team.


• Responsible for producing and communicating development plans for all team members and take action to ensure they are being delivered.


• Accountable to the Maintenance Delivery Manager for ensuring all maintenance tasks are clearly briefed, understood and performed safely and on schedule to ensure safe operation of the facility.


• Comply with legislative, regulatory and company procedures and standards e.g. safety, quality, risk, security appropriate to the role.


• Responsible for ensuring the delivery of work complies with all site requirements and plant and personnel are operating within the safety envelope.


• Ensure effective handover and hand back arrangements are in place with Technical Support Team.


• Liaise with Mechanical Engineers on any plant upgrades or improvements, ensuring that any improvements/upgrades are adequately maintained.


• Responsible for ensuring that team and individual training takes place to agreed standards and timescales.


• Attend any forums as appropriate to keep abreast of best practice around other facilities, responsible for sharing and implementing any learning around their facility.


• Responsible for undertaking regular self-audits and task observations within their area of responsibility ensuring EHSS&Q standards are being maintained according to set procedures.

Essential Criteria for Mechanical Team Leader:

• Mechanical Craft Apprenticeship.


• A thorough awareness of nuclear, conventional safety and security requirements applicable to their area of responsibility.


• Ability to demonstrate supervisory experience for operations undertaken within a nuclear plant.


• Strong communications skills, ability to communicate key information with customers, suppliers and stakeholders.


• Ability to demonstrate conservative decision making, even in pressure situations.


• Demonstrable knowledge of operational & maintenance requirements.


• Evidence of self-motivation with demonstrable levels of drive, energy and resilience.


• Requirement to become appointed as Task Supervisor.


• Requirement to become appointed as Sub Contractor Supervisor.


• Ability to obtain DV level security clearance (this includes but is not limited to identity, employment, financial, criminal record checks, interview plus 10 years of UK residency).

Desirable Criteria for Mechanical Team Leader:

• Hold IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent as a minimum qualification.


• Team Leader experience.


• Good general safety case awareness with demonstrable knowledge of nuclear safety mechanisms (SM), safety related equipment (SRE) and Safety Features (SF).


• Ability to interface on a technical level with Engineers.

Qualifications:

What you'll be doing

• Act as the lead day-to-day point of contact for the customer on allocated project/s working alongside the operational lead who will own the delivery solution;
• Alongside the operational lead, they will guide and motivate the pre-construction/ECI team for given project/s; coordinating deliverables of the team from feasibility proposal, throughout pre- construction (design development and scope definition) to formulation of final submission to secure a delivery agreement for construction;

• Work hand-in-hand with the proposals team to ensure feasibility and delivery agreement submissions are always to a high standard;
• Working closely with the Design Lead(s); ensure that either customers or Balfour Beatty are discharging their Principal Designer obligations under CDM 2015;
• Prepare monthly reporting material and articulate key messages to internal and external stakeholders;
• Inform workload planning to ensure resources are identified for feasibility proposals and pre-construction services;
• Continually seek opportunities to integrate innovation into our feasibility and pre-construction process;
• Assist project teams in the adoption of BIM Level 2 standards, 3D design and CGI modelling;
• Actively promote defects avoidance (designing out defects) and embed a structured method of lessons learnt within design and construction;
• Develop and implement a robust process to ensure projects are always ‘fit to start’ on site.
• Support during construction mobilisation with handover to project lead for construction stage.
• Lead on ensuring that the client is supported with its estimating, planning and regulatory submissions, ensuring that lessons learned are carried from one project to another.

What skills and experience we're looking for

MAIN ACTIVITIES

• Undertake the open up and lock up of the school site and buildings, maintaining a high security procedure
• Undertake minor maintenance and DIY and a programme of general maintenance and housekeeping to ensure the school is clean and safe for all to use
• To operate the heating, lighting, fire alarm, burglar alarm etc
• To complete various safety checks, e.g. COSHH, Legionella, Fire across the whole school – daily, weekly, monthly and termly
• To report major items for repair to senior staff and arrange for quotes where necessary to repair
• To initiate and maintain contact with contractors for regular planned maintenance and ‘one off’ jobs
• To arrange three quotations for works/projects
• To oversee contractors and deliveries on site ensuring goods are stored in the correct place


• Undertake any other appropriate duties as assigned by senior staff

Your new company
You will be joining a multi-accredited main contractor based in Derby operating across the power, industrial and commercial industries. Due to continued success, they are looking to onboard a Site Manager to join their team.

Your new role
As Site Manager you will be responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of multiple power schemes, from inception through to completion, across England. You will be based on one site at a time, managing subcontractors and direct labour on schemes valued up to £20m. Works will include groundworks, drainage and RC works. You will also be expected to commute and lodge at sites further afield if need be.

What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful, you will have:

• Previous experience overseeing the successful delivery of civil works (ideally within the power, industrial and/or commercial industries)
• CSCS, SMSTS and First Aid
• Ability to manage and lead a team effectively to ensure successful project outcomes
• Sound interpersonal, leadership and organisational skills
• Full UK Driving Licence.
