What you’ll be doing:
As part of our team, you will play a key role in assessing the impact of offshore wind farms on bird populations, delivering practical solutions to real-world challenges. From conducting field work, to writing technical reports and engaging with stakeholders, your work will directly contribute to informed decision-making by clients. Collaborating closely with our ornithology team, you'll have the chance to apply your expertise to meaningful projects while continuously expanding your skills and knowledge.
Key responsibilities:
Conduct data analysis to assess the impact of offshore wind farms on bird populations, with a focus on the offshore sector.
Prepare technical reports and assessments based on findings, effectively communicating results to clients and stakeholders.
Work collaboratively with team members to support project delivery.
Consult with stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulations and facilitate project consent.
Show a willingness to learn new skills and techniques to enhance technical expertise.
Contribute to conducting ornithological field surveys when required.
Who we’re looking for:
Essential:
A degree in ecology or a closely related discipline (MSc preferred).
Proven experience in ornithology research, consultancy, or working with Statutory Nature Conservation Bodies (SNCBs).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex datasets and communicate findings effectively.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and effectively.
Desirable:
Experience in work-winning for major projects and project management.
Experience in engaging with a range of stakeholders and statutory consultees.
Familiarity with specific modelling tools such as a coding language (preferably R), collision risk modelling (CRM), and population viability assessment (PVA), and spatial modelling (training will be provided)
