Job Summary
Please note that this position is temporary.
You will be a motivated, enthusiastic and caring person who enjoys working with adults who have Autism & a learning disability.
You will be responsible for supporting & supervising social care staff within the service– you will play a pivotal role within the management team.
Applicants must be experienced in working with adults with Autism & a learning disability, preferably in a residential/ care at home support setting and possess the relevant skills to achieve a safe balance of promoting independence and managing risk.
You must be an excellent communicator and team player who can develop good relationships with colleagues and service users. You will show a commitment to promoting person centred approaches within your working practices.
You must have a sound understanding of social care values and of the professional role involved as a senior social care worker in working with adults with learning disabilities.
Experience in working with adults with Autism & learning disabilities is essential.
Ideally applicants will hold a Scottish Vocational Qualification in Care at level 4 or be willing to work towards this qualification to meet SSSC requirements.

PVG / Disclosure Scotland
Where the post you are applying for is considered Regulated Work under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007, successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by East Dunbartonshire Council.
Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant check which will be deducted from the successful candidate’s first salary payment.
In specific circumstances the payment could be deducted in instalments from an employee’s wages following commencement of employment. Approval in such circumstances will be made by HR Services Lead.
Should an employee leave in advance of the payment being deducted, the full amount will be deducted from the employee’s final salary.
The criteria outlined above will apply to existing employees of East Dunbartonshire Council who apply for roles for which a PVG/Disclosure check is required.
