Advanced Medical Support Assistants at this level provide specialized and expert administrative patient support while working collaboratively in an interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery model. Work involves specialized administrative judgment and the flexible use of a wide range of clinical flow processes relating to access to care across multiple clinics, specialties, and/or care in the community resources. Assignments at this level include, but are not limited to:

• Utilizes numerous advanced patient systems in support of multiple clinics involved in an interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery model.

Assists assigned personnel in all areas of the Skills Development Program. The Transportation Assistant will serve as Agency Organization Program Coordinator A/OPCfor the government charge card program. Incumbent serves as approver and is responsible for monthly reconciliation of their Centrally Billed Account (CBA) in accordance with regulations. A/OPC will review all unmatched transactions to determine if they match the bank transactions to the TMC transactions, traveler's name, obligation numbers, organization codes and organization name. Approver must select the appropriate status code for each transaction and submit the statement for certification. Reconciliation is necessary to guard against fraud, waste and abuse.

Major duties include but are not limited to:

• Serve as the point of contact and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for a wide range of travel related matters and VA Financial Policies and Procedures.
• Serve as approver and is responsible for monthly reconciliation of their Centrally Billed Account (CBA) in accordance with regulations.

This position is within the Health Administration Service at the Truman VA Medical Center in Columbia, Mo, which is a Complexity Level 1c facility.

The Health Benefits Assistant receives and processes applicants for admission and outpatient treatment. Schedule appointments, determine eligibility and route patients applying for care. Assign admitting patients to wards and notifies wards of pending admissions and verifies information is correct. Primary duty is to interview Veterans, or their designated representative, in order to collect demographic information relative to their finances, insurance, address, work history, etc. This information serves as a basis for determining entitlement to medical care as well as bill preparation and collections on billable episodes of inpatient and outpatient care. Accurate and complete data collection is essential to proper processing of third party collection requirements as mandated by law. Contacts may be in person, by telephone, or by mail, and require timely and accurate input into the VA data base system. Incumbent will maintain workload reports relative to these duties. Advise Veterans of their entitlement to various medical benefits and discuss copayment requirements of Veterans in discretionary categories.
