Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children? Oakmont School, a distinguished and growing independent school in the vibrant Cardiff Bay, is looking for an empathetic and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to help nurture pupils' potential with Behavioural, Emotional, and Social Difficulties (BESD). If you have skills in sports, technology, science, or the arts and can bring these into an educational setting, we especially welcome your application.
What You'll Do:
Support a diverse group of pupils in achieving their fullest academic and social potential.
Collaborate with a dedicated team to promote inclusive learning environments and ensure every pupil participates in learning and extracurricular activities.
Implement effective behaviour management strategies and contribute to planning and assessment that support our pupils' growth.
Communicate effectively with a network of staff, parents, and other professionals to enhance educational outcomes.
Uphold our strong focus on safeguarding and ensuring the well-being and safety of all pupils by adhering to our comprehensive safeguarding policies and procedures.
Who We're Looking For:
Individuals with experience or a strong interest in special education, particularly in supporting pupils with BESD.
Team players with excellent communication and organisational skills who are adept at fostering relationships with pupils and adults alike.
Those committed to professional growth and who are responsive to the needs of children and the school community.
Professionals who understand the importance of safeguarding in an educational setting and are committed to the protection and safety of all pupils.

Requirements:
Demonstrable experience as an effective practitioner, ideally in a similar learning support role.
Understanding of trauma-informed approaches and their application in an educational setting.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, and external stakeholders
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
Registration with the Education Workforce Council
Successful completion of an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
