Job Description Summary
The Maintenance Assistant at C&W Services in a higher education environment will play a crucial role in supporting both general maintenance technicians and skilled trade technicians in the execution of C&W Services' scope of work. This position will involve providing assistance in various maintenance tasks, including painting, event setups, moves, and general support to maintenance technicians. The Maintenance Assistant will report to the Lead Maintenance Assistant and work collaboratively with the maintenance team to ensure the facility's efficient operation.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support general maintenance technicians and skilled trade technicians in carrying out maintenance tasks as per C&W Services' scope of work.
2. Assist in painting activities, including surface preparation, application of coatings, and maintaining painting equipment.
3. Aid in event setups and moves by providing setup support, moving equipment, and ensuring proper placement of event materials.
4. Provide assistance to general maintenance technicians in completing routine maintenance tasks, such as HVAC filter changes, lighting repairs, and plumbing maintenance.
5. Collaborate with skilled trade maintenance technicians to learn and support specific technical tasks, such as electrical, plumbing, or carpentry work.
6. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including storage areas, maintenance workshops, and facilities where maintenance work is being performed.
7. Adhere to safety protocols and best practices to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and fellow team members.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in maintenance or construction-related work is preferred.
- Basic understanding of general maintenance tasks and familiarity with maintenance tools and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset to work effectively with maintenance team members.
- Willingness to learn new maintenance skills and actively support the maintenance team's goals.
Working Conditions:
- Work will be primarily conducted in a higher education facility and may involve exposure to equipment noise, paint fumes, and various weather conditions.
- The role requires the Maintenance Assistant to stand, walk, and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods.
- May be required to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to support maintenance activities and respond to facility needs.
