Who we are:
Renfrewshire Valuation Joint Board is an independent public authority that was established by The Valuation Joint Boards (Scotland) Order 1995.
What we do:
Provide a professional valuation and electoral registration service for the Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire & Inverclyde Council areas in respect of compilation and maintenance of the Valuation Rolls, Valuation (Council Tax) Lists and Registers of Electors.

Requirements
Who are we looking for: Trainee Technician
You will assist in the survey and valuation of all lands and heritages in a designated geographical area for the purposes of the Lands Valuation Acts and the Local Government Finance Act 1992. You will assist a Chartered Surveyor, Technician or other suitably experienced member of the Valuation Team in maintaining a portfolio of survey work under appropriate supervision. You will assist in maintaining all property files to an appropriate standard by writing survey reports, drawing plans and calculating areas.
You should have experience in using a range of software packages such as word processing software, creating spreadsheets etc. and the ability to meet customer needs through excellent customer service.
You will have good literacy and numeracy capabilities, proficient in IT, well developed organisational, communication and time management skills. You will have the ability to work as part of a team or individually and be self-motivated.
It is desirable but not essential for you to have experience in measurement and preparation of plans and of using Microsoft Office. It is also desirable to be able to work to strict timetables whilst also being able to prioritise workloads.
You must have the necessary qualifications to gain entry to and work towards achieving an HNC in Construction Management (Part-time).
A full driving licence and ability to use own car for business purposes is essential for this role.

You will also be responsible for the discussion and negotiation of appeals with taxpayers and professional agents, preparing cases for presentation and, when required appearing as an expert witness at formal appeal hearings.
You will have good literacy and numeracy capabilities, proficient in IT, well developed organisational, communication and time management skills. You will have the ability to work as part of a team or individually and be self-motivated.
