The Role: We have several opportunities to recruit enthusiastic and committed Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (Trainee PWPs) to join our expanding NHS Talking Therapies service operating across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. In this role, you will provide Low Intensity interventions whilst undertaking the Post-Graduate Certificate delivered by the University of Exeter commencing in March 2025.This training post will equip you to provide Step 2 Guided Self-Help Low Intensity Interventions to clients with a range of common mental health problems, such as anxiety and depression, for which CBT interventions are demonstrated to be clinically effective. You will be joining a motivated workforce and will be supported in the completion of both your academic study and clinical delivery by skilled and experienced supervisors. This role will be offered on a permanentcontract. The role typically comprises 3 days per week undertaking clinical practice with the service and 2 days per week attending university. University days will be hybrid training of a combination of remote and face-to-face teaching in a Bristol based location. The role is likely to include remote working but attendance at one of the BNSSG offices will be required at least twice a week. Skills and Experience: Essential: Undergraduate degree or evidence of previous successful study at Regulated Qualifications Framework Level 5 or Level 6; Evidence of one years working experience in settings with high exposure to people with mental health difficulties. Evidence of interpersonal skills to engage and develop working alliances with colleagues and patient. Evidence of an openness to learning new knowledge and skills. Ability to work under pressure. Excellent administrative and time management skills. Flexible and able to provide one evening shift (12-8pm) as required by service needs. The main purpose of this role is to provide energy advice to householders by telephone and email. You will be expected to provide information to help householders and clients access the appropriate support while maintaining accurate and detailed records of all interactions with clients.

Pay and conditions

• The role is fixed-contract (12 Months), full-time (37.5 hours per week). We will
consider application for a minimum of 22.5 hours per week.
• The salary for the role will be £23,465.
• You will be entitled to 25 days paid holiday (plus statutory holidays).

Specific responsibilities:

An applicant appointed to the role will be expected to:

• To work on the advice line and/or other telephone advice projects making and
receiving calls from people who may need help with energy related issues.
• To record client details and use knowledge to assess help and support needed.
• To refer clients onto other support organisations in their area as appropriate.
• To identify energy improvements that can be made to clients’ properties and
refer to installers who can fit them.
• To help vulnerable clients make applications for grants and switch energy
tariffs where appropriate.
• To listen attentively to callers (some of whom may be in distress) and respond
to their needs in an empathetic way.
• To be familiar with and adhere to advice line protocol, processes and
procedures.
