A new role has arisen for a Vocational Coach in Brick Laying. This opportunity will see you coaching students to develop and improve their knowledge, skills and behaviours, unlocking their potential to maximise their own performance to enable them to achieve their current and future aspirations.

You will ensure effective curriculum implementation through preparing schemes of work, lesson and assessment plans taking account of employer requirements and progression aspirations. You will also provide coaching and support to students that promotes the development of behaviours necessary for success in the future ensuring they understand their rights and responsibilities. The role will see you participating in the interviewing, enrolment and induction of students.

Experience of designing and delivering training in either a college training facility and/or in a student’s place of work or a similar environment would be desirable.

Training in other areas of trade areas (multi ops) is also desirable. General Information

The Anaesthetics Department is situated in the Trusts Outpatient Department. It is conveniently located close to surgical daycase and the Family Health and Diagnostics theatre complexes. It comprises of multiple shared rooms for consultant office space and an open plan secretarial space along with an integrated kitchenet in the same footprint. It provides a pleasant working environment with easy access to the Anaesthetic secretaries. There are hot desking areas close to Theatres and the ICU with a dedicated lecture/seminar room and a kitchen.

To be eligible for these posts you must be eligible to secure GMC registration with Licence to Practice, ideally have completed the Post graduate training in the country of origin at Core Training level.

Applicants should be aware that regardless of Country of Origin, their ability to communicate in written and spoken English to the standard required to carry out the post will be assessed during the selection process.

The Senior Clinical Fellow will work on the General Critical Care Unit for a period of six months. There may be the opportunity to extend the post at the end of the term. This will depend upon staffing vacancies and satisfactory progress by the Fellow.

The post holder’s role can be adapted to suit the individual interests and training needs of the candidate. This may include spending time in operating theatre keeping Anaesthetics skills up to speed.

Education

All clinical fellows are allocated a trained Educational Supervisor (ES) who will oversee their progress and serve as a mentor for training and other needs. We would expect the individual to meet with the ES both formally (every 3 months) to record the progress and informally as frequently as is possible.

The clinical fellow will be fully supervised by consultants during the day shift. Overnight, there is supervision by a resident senior trainee /middle grade and an on call ITU consultant.

What the school offers its staff

Shire Oak School, a comprehensive secondary school, was formed in 1970 by merging Shire Oak Grammar School, opened in 1961, with Walsall Wood Secondary Modern School, which had been moved to new buildings adjoining those of the grammar school in 1966. In September 2003 we received designation as a specialist science college. In April 2011, our school became an 11 to 18 comprehensive converter Academy. In October 2018, Shire Oak Academy alongside Aldridge School, Queen Mary’s Grammar School, Queen Mary’s High School and The Walsall Studio School formed The Mercian Academy Trust.

Main Responsibilities

As the Senior Quantity Surveyor you will have worked in a similar industry with experience of working on Highways, Infrastructure or Maintenance Projects, the focus of this role is on highways services.

Other responsibilities for this role will include (not exhaustive):

• Be an integral member of the commercial team supporting the Commercial Manager and Managing Quantity Surveyor
• Build a strong relationship with internal and client counterparts as well as managing members of your team to attain their full potential
• Managing commercial projects from pre contract stage through to completion ensuring contracts returns are maximised and complete forecasting across all within your works
• Engaging and managing sub-contracts including tender enquiries, award and assessment of monthly payment applications
• Support the production of monthly CVR's
• Produce both internal and client forecasts
• Production and substantiation through to agreement of associated Final Accounts
• Ensure all Tarmac and client processes are followed to minimise commercial risk
• Work with your team and ensure all work completed is accurately valued and followed through to cash collection
• Prepare and submit monthly application for payments to clients
• Prepare and issue early warning notices and compensation events

Due to the nature of the work, you must have a FULL UK manual car driving licence with no more than 6 points

The Ideal Candidate

As our ideal Senior Quantity Surveyor you will have:

• ESSENTIAL - NEC3/4 experience
• Customer exposure with National Highways or other large government organisations would prove highly beneficial
• BSc or MSc Degree in Quantity Surveying
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
• Excellent oral, written communication; and presentation skills with strong numeracy and analytical ability
• Process driven with strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills

It is preferred that the successful candidate for the role of Senior Quantity Surveyor is educated to degree level, although other equivalent qualifications minimum HND will be accepted.
