The successful candidate will work closely with the existing rheumatologists. There are ten programmed activities over the typical working week. 8 PAs per week will be dedicated to direct clinical care and 2 PA to supporting professional activities such as audit, teaching, appraisal, clinical governance and service development. It is expected that the post holder will participate in the active audit programme in the department and keep up with continuing professional development as laid down by the Royal College of Physicians. The Hospital is committed to providing time and financial support for these activities. An active mentoring programme for newly appointed consultants is available and receives positive feedback from participants.

The Hillingdon Hospital provides a general Rheumatology service for the people of Hillingdon. The department started in April 2002. There are 2 rheumatology specialist nurses at Hillingdon hospital, who runs clinics alongside those of the existing rheumatologist. They carry out the preliminary work up for patients recommended for biological or targeted synthetic therapies and escalate csDMARD, bDMARD and tsDMARD therapies to achieve remission.

There are weekly radiology meetings with one of the musculoskeletal radiologists.

Secretarial and clerical / administrative support is provided by two patient pathway coordinators. The consultant will have access to IT and office accommodation. No on call work is envisaged.

The postholder will work with the Digital Leadership team across CLCH, WL and CNWL to develop and enhance and deliver cross-cutting collaboration of digital programmes that support the Trusts strategies and long-term plan commitments. The postholder will lead on unifying, developing and implementing new ways of working using digital and data that will optimise the health and care experience of not only our workforces, but those using our services. They will work with key leads within the Trusts as well as establishing strong external partnership relationships which join up pathways of care across organisational boundaries. The postholder will play an important role in building and managing external relationships across our ICS and Place Based footprints and will support members of the Digital Board in contributing to ICS and place based Digital Strategies. The postholder will undertake significant engagement and working in collaboration with a number of different stakeholders, including ICS and Place based Partnership leads, commissioners, acute, primary care, and mental health providers as well as the public, voluntary and community sector organisations Initially the role will have a particular emphasis on working with Digital teams to lead and shape the delivery of a number of key cross cutting priorities across our organisations. The role is expected to provide visible leadership, be driven by data and promote high standards by modelling the values and behaviours expected of a senior manager in the NHS.

- Using hospital databases, such as TRAK, CRIS, Medical Notes, Infoflex, EPR check appointment dates and outcomes for patients. - Ensure the cancer database is updated in a timely and accurate manner to enable the clinical teams to meet the cancer targets. - Working with MDT co-ordinators to ensure that all patients are proactively tracked from referral to treatment. - Liaise with administrative and medical staff in various departments to ensure appointments are booked swiftly for patients in line with government targets. - Ensure effective communication with nursing staff, medical teams and other co-ordinators in order to co-ordinate the effective and timely treatment of patients. - Pro-actively escalate issues and delays in the patients pathway. - Develop a basic understanding of the medical terminology and treatments for cancer in order to fully understand the patients pathway. - Maintain close communication with the MDT co-ordinator updating him/her on a regular basis on work progress and alerting him/her of any problems that may result in a delay in the patients treatment. - Input data into Infoflex to ensure timely uploads in line with target dates. - Provide administrative support including collecting medical notes in preparation for MDT - Help assist and support all MDT specialties should it be required, particularly in periods of absence. Audit - Work with clinical teams to assist the MDT in collecting/recording data items for National Cancer Clinical datasets as required Additional Responsibilities - The post holder must at all times respect patient confidentiality and in line with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) - Attend MDT Co-ordinator team meetings. - Attend mandatory training courses as identified through supervision and individual performance review. - Participate in individual performance review in regular supervision sessions as agreed. - Assist with covering the MDT co-ordinators duties for annual leave/ sickness
