We have a Band 7 Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist role at our Rotherham inpatient wards at Swallownest Court.
The postholder will professionally lead and supervise band 5 OTs and OT support staff, alongside being fully integrated with the multi-disciplinary teams across three acute mental health wards (including 1 Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit- PICU).
Working alongside experienced psychological therapies, nursing and medical staff and service users you will contribute to the delivery of assessments, individualised treatment programmes and group work in our inpatient setting. You will be expected to have advanced knowledge and experience in working within the Model of Human Occupation. You will be a highly valued member of the clinical multi-disciplinary team, actively involved in decision making processes and taking a lead on coordinating the provision of meaningful and recovery focused therapeutic activity.
Successful applicants will have excellent communication, team working and leadership skills. The applicant will have a good awareness of risk and safeguarding issues; have excellent time management and professional conduct. You will be supported by regular supervision, ongoing CPD opportunities and encouraged to contribute to the development of the wider adult mental health services.
· Accountable for leading and delivering high-quality occupational therapy care within a defined clinical area or pathway (Swallownest Acute AMH Inpatients)
· Responsible for providing expert clinical practice with advanced clinical reasoning
· Provide clinical leadership and supervision to support and develop staff within their work
· Lead evaluation and development of clinical practice within the specialism/ service area ensuring compliance with national and local policy, guidelines and frameworks
· Develop the evidence base for practice through audit, clinical effectiveness and research activity and apply this to clinical practice
· Assist and support operational managers and professional leads in the improvement and modernisation of services
· To represent occupational therapy, as required, at management level and participate in strategic developments
Significant experience as a band 6/7 occupational therapist in a relevant clinical field or fields, including extensive mental health experience
• Extensive experience of supervision, appraisal and development of occupational therapy staff and students.
• Significant experience of multi-disciplinary working including development of effective networks/partnerships.
