We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator to manage and maintain our complex database environments and ensure seamless operations across platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
• Database Design & Documentation: Develop and maintain up-to-date database design documents, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
• Database Management: Oversee and manage Oracle, SQL Server, and MongoDB environments, with a strong emphasis on Oracle.
• Oracle Expertise: Must have in-depth experience with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, and Oracle Restart on Windows platforms. Extensive hands-on experience with Oracle versions 11x/12x/19x is essential, covering activities like upgrades, patching, and general database maintenance.
• Performance Monitoring & Issue Resolution: Monitor system performance, identify potential issues, and perform Start-of-Day (SOD) checks daily. Address and resolve any issues to ensure the system’s stability.
• Backup & Recovery: Ensure databases are adequately backed up and recoverable, implementing best practices for security, reliability, availability, and scalability.
• Incident Management & Root Cause Analysis: Conduct root cause analysis for production-related database issues. Report incidents and statuses promptly, providing timely updates on system or database-related issues to superiors, including troubleshooting and incident escalation when necessary.
• Project Management: Lead ongoing and new database projects, regularly updating the Section Head on progress. Proactively escalate any project delays or issues.
• Compliance & Data Security: Ensure compliance with data security standards, particularly when handling sensitive financial and customer data.
• Oracle Enterprise Management: Experience with Oracle Enterprise Management tools and incident/problem management systems like ServiceNow.
• MongoDB Knowledge: Basic knowledge of MongoDB is a plus.
Job Requirements:
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in IT or a related field.
• Experience: At least 5 years of hands-on experience in system/database development and administration, with a focus on Oracle.
• Technical Skills: Proficient in scripting, query tuning, and database optimization. Able to troubleshoot and solve complex database issues.
• Leadership: Prior experience in IT system development, control, and operations in a leadership capacity is essential.
• Banking Operations Knowledge: Understanding of banking operations, procedures, and planning is an advantage.
• Communication: Business-level proficiency in English, with the ability to present, report, and discuss technical matters with management and Head Office in Japan. This includes participation in system discussions, Q&A sessions, and status update meetings.
