We are on a lookout for a Tax Manager, who is hands-on and proactive team player who helps to manage and oversee the Group’s tax compliance, transfer pricing, tax reporting and provide tax advisory to internal stakeholders; and to support projects and ad-hoc duties, as required from time to time. To drive tax process improvement and strengthen tax controls and to drive best practices within the Group.
Responsibilities:
Tax governance & policy matters
• Reporting to the Head of Tax, you will ensure compliance with relevant tax and transfer pricing regulations across all entities in the Group, Singapore and regional (Greater China, India, ASEAN)
• Assist with the implementation of the Group Tax Strategy and the roll-out of tax policies, tax controls processes and best practices
• Assist to drive continuous tax optimization projects, Group tax process and controls improvements projects to enhance tax compliance quality and efficiency. Provide improvement recommendations
• Assist in developing tax-efficient structures for investment, intra-group financing, corporate shared services, cross-border transactions
• Monitor relevant updates to the Group tax governance and transfer pricing policies & best practices, in accordance with the latest tax regulation developments
Tax Compliance
• Oversee all aspects of tax compliance alongside the Finance team, ensure timely review and filing of tax return
• Review to identify tax planning opportunities and to minimize the occurrence of tax controversies
Transfer Pricing
• Manage/ facilitate the preparation of transfer pricing documentation report, tax position papers, benchmarking study in collaboration with the local country Finance team
• Responsible to ensure proper and adequate transfer pricing documentation is maintained to support intra-group transactions in compliance with local regulations
• Perform operational transfer pricing review to align business arrangements with transfer pricing policy and objectives
Tax Reporting
• Set up and maintain a central tax database for Group tax reporting, data analytics, preparing for the BEPS Pillar 2 requirements
• Manage the Group’s tax reporting, including annual tax accounting process, periodic review of tax provision balances and deferred tax assets/ liabilities to ensure accuracy
• Perform tax data analysis to offer insights and recommendation plan to manage tax risks for optimization and mitigation
• Provide tax advice, guidance, training to internal users on direct taxes, indirect taxes, withholding tax and other tax matters. Develop tax sharing content and conduct tax sharing sessions/ training to finance peers
Tax Advisory
• Business partnering to provide tax support on business transactions and projects
• Provide tax leadership and support on M&As and internal projects
• Support Human Resource department on foreign assignment’s tax compliance matters
• Review business and intercompany contracts for tax risk management
• Support/ handle application for tax incentives and government grants
Tax Audit
• Manage tax audits and queries from tax authorities in collaboration with local country Finance team
• Analyze exposure and assessment, update stakeholders regularly
Tax Trends & Development
• Stay on top of tax law changes, evaluate impact on business, handle change management
Other duties
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned from time to time
Candidate requirement: To succeed in this role – you should have the following:
• A person with positive mindset, can-do attitude, initiative-taker, collaborative skills, team worker
• Strong technical background, practical experience handling regional direct and indirect tax matters for MNCs. Transfer pricing working knowledge
• Strong accounting and analytical skills with ability to research and apply tax law; willingness to learn new technical skills independently. Good professional judgement
• Self-motivated, strong sense of accountability, able to work under pressure to meet deadlines
• Keen eye for details, strong problem-solving skill, able to multi-task, manage competing priorities
• Good interpersonal skill, maturity to work with minimal supervision, ability to meet datelines
• Degree in accountancy/ professional qualification, at least 10 years’ experience in MNCs performing similar roles
• Good verbal and written English, fluence in Mandarin to support the China entities
