Business Development Manager

Job Description:

The primary role of this position is the day-to-day management of a set of key accounts, working closely with the Wine Manager and the sales team to execute sales strategies that increase sales in these accounts and to acquire new accounts and listings across a broad customer base.

The secondary role of this position is to conduct in-house training for the company’s key clients and develop and execute a schedule of consumer and trade events to promote our wines in our retail and F&B clients, in particular for the other concepts under The Providore group.

Deliver exceptional customer service, exceed customers’ expectations, and position the company with a definitive competitive advantage in the Singapore market.

• Acquire new customers through actively chasing leads, meet the decision-makers, and close deals for listings that generate long-term sales
• Work closely with the team to develop growth strategies focused on both financial gain and customer satisfaction, execute the sales strategies, and achieve the company goals
• Provide strong after-sales support and maintain excellent business relationships with the customers to retain their accounts, grow their listings and create new business opportunities
• Prepare sales quotations and invoices, when necessary, in line with agreed company margins and cost budgets to ensure the business's profitability
• Manage your accounts aging AR to ensure customer payments are received in a timely manner and communicate regularly with the finance team regarding customers who are outside of their trade terms
• Keep informed of industry trends, participate in the trade portfolio selection and range reviews, continue to develop your own wine knowledge, and be an expert in the trade portfolio we offer
• Develop and execute a training programme for our clients to train and develop their teams to be knowledgeable on our portfolio listing at their venues and to increase the sales of TWDC’s wines
• Create a schedule of consumer and trade events, masterclasses, educational workshops, and activities to promote the wines in our portfolio with our Retail and F&B clients and generate more sales
• Provide support for marketing activities that increase the awareness of TWDC or the brands that are in our portfolio
• Operate within the company guidelines and follow the processes set up relating to the day-to-day operations of the business, be a team player, supporting the whole team to achieve the overall company sales targets and revenue goals

Job Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of related experience and extensive knowledge in wine is required

Job Description:

In your role as the General Manager of The Wine Distribution Co. ("TWDC"), you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, and overall management of the day-to-day operations of TWDC. A combination of strong business acumen, emphatic leadership skills, related industry expertise and experience, as well as a deep understanding of the wine distribution and wholesale market in Singapore, are essential in fulfilling the duties of this role.

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the Group's Core Management team to develop, and execute TWDC's strategic plans in alignment with its objectives and targets
• Identify new market opportunities, trends and emerging consumer preference to drive business development and growth
• Lead a team of Business Development Managers, the Administrative and Marketing team, as well as the Warehouse and Fulfilment team
• Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth and efficient functionality
• Closely monitor financial performance; analyzing variances, and taking pro-active corrective actions when required
• Identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement prudent financial practices
• Lead business development, sales, and marketing intiatives to effectively promote TWDC's products and services
• Foster a collaborative, efficient, and positive work environment for all
• Mentor and focus of development of team members, to promote professional growth and performance excellence by setting clear expectations and goals, providing regular feedback, and managing high employee performance
• Ensure full compliance with industry regulations, licensing requirements, and legal standards
• Stay updated on any changes in the law and regulations that might impact the wine distribution and wholesale business
• Represent TWDC in industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities
• Build and maintain, positive working relationships with all internal stakeholders, as well as with clients, customers, suppliers, vendors, investors and industry associations

Requirements:

• Degree / Masters from a recognized institution
• At least 5 - 7 years related experience is required
• Strong knowledge and expertise in wine, sake, and other alcoholic beverages
• Advantageous to have certifications in wine, sake, etc.

You will be part of a tight, close-knit warehouse team that manages the daily operational warehouse functions for THE WINE DISTRIBUTION CO. (TWDC).

Together as a team, you will support the Warehouse & Logistics Manager in ensuring proper maintenance of warehouse inventory, updating of shipment records, ordering of required items and ensuring accurate information is put on record.

• Safe movement or inventory and materials across facilities; sorting, organizing and storing of inventory in proper locations
• Picking, packing and labeling of items correctly, ensuring accurate processing of inventory for delivery
• Removing inventory from trucks / shipment delivery for stocking or delivery to proper locations
• Checking of delivered items to ensure quality / quantity is correct
• Reporting of any possible damaged or missing inventory to direct Supervisor
• Stacking and organizing of large / bulky items using proper machinery where required
• Updating of logs and documentation for inventory processing
• Generation of Purchase Orders / Delivery Orders, and due follow-up tasks
• Maintenance of good housekeeping in warehouse and retail spaces
• Ensure workplace is free of debris and removal of safety hazards from aisles
• Adhere to safe operating procedures and workplace safety at all times
• Assist is preparation of documentation and inventory for audits

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate should possess a strong understanding of the beverage industry (especially sake) and be able to fluently communicate and negotiate with our clients and customers (especially in the Japanese market).
