What skills and experience we're looking for
We seek a warm, vibrant and inspiring individual to join our team, working with students to support them to achieve their personal best. You will lead supporting a cohort of children which will involve acting as their key worker and could involve leading on safeguarding issue, providing wellbeing support. You will lead on providing whole school extra-curricular year group support e.g. Year 11 exam stress and year 7 break clubs. You will also support effective liaison and communication between the wellbeing team, SEN team, Pastoral team and teaching staff to improve progress overtime for students with SEMH needs. You will work with the wellbeing team and SEN team to identify students with SEMH needs and will deliver interventions to these students.
Essential criteria:
• Be able to demonstrate levels of numeracy and literacy to GCSE (Grade C/4 and above)
• Experience of working with children/young people
• Ability to engage and influence others
• Excellent communication and behaviour management skills
• Experience of working across departments and with external organisations
• Ability to monitor and evaluate impact of interventions and strategies
• Commitment to the safeguarding of young people

Key Outputs:
1. Undertake the delivery of a specific curriculum/aspect to one-to-one or small group of students using a range of strategies to establish a purposeful learning environment and to promote good behaviour.
2. Deliver subject specific support for students that are not making expected progress under the direction of a teacher.
3. Develop strategies to help students overcome obstacles they may experience in achieving their personal best
4. Deliver SEMH interventions with particular focus on students with emotional or mental health issues
5. Create and maintain accurate records to support strategic decisions regarding SEMH support across KS3.
6. To support with the effective planning and delivery of the Peer Mentoring Programme.
7. Lead small group intervention sessions on life skills lessons / PSHE with students, inspiring a love of learning with students.
8. Ensure key staff are informed of progress and developments through regular feedback and updates.
9. Maintain regular, positive contact with staff, students and parents.
10. To develop effective working relationships with outside agencies to best support students with specific needs.
11. To lead on SEMH referrals to external agencies, maintaining accurate records and then liaising with professionals to provide outstanding SEMH provisions in school.
12. Write and review My Support plans and IEPs and other supporting documents where required for students.
13. To discuss sensitive issues with parents/carers, for example, behaviour, uniform, attendance etc.
14. To participate in and assist in supervision of educational visits, in conjunction with the teacher/line manager.
15. Actively encourage the inclusion of all students to participate in the life and activities of the school and to access the national curriculum to the best of their ability.
16. To support with the planning and delivery of assemblies during key period of the year i.e. Mental Health Awareness Week.
17. To support with the planning and delivery of key SEMH school events.
18. Seek feedback about own performance and the quality of support offered.
19. To provide cover for before, break, lunch and after school as directed by line manager, ensuring the post holder actively upholds and promotes the philosophies of the school.
20. As part of your wider duties and responsibilities you are required to promote and actively support the school’s responsibilities towards Safeguarding. Safeguarding is about keeping people safe and protecting people from harm, neglect, abuse and injury. It is about creating safe places, being vigilant and doing something about any concerns you might have.
21. Carry out your duties with due regard to current and future School policies, procedures and relevant legislation. These will be drawn to your attention in your appointment letter, your statement of particulars, induction, and on-going performance development and through college communications.
