We have an exciting opportunity to join North Star Academy Trust following recent growth and are seeking to recruit a reliable, enthusiastic and efficient Site Assistant to be responsible for maintaining the school estates across our academies. The role is based within North Bristol, and a driving license is required in order to travel between academies.

Working under the direction of the Estates Manager, the successful candidate will play a vital role in the smooth running of our school, with responsibility for ensuring the school estates are well maintained, safe and fit for purpose at all times.

Duties will include:

• Act as a main keyholder and be responsible for the opening/ closing
• Carrying out reactive repairs and planned maintenance tasks
• Portering duties
• Completing compliance tasks, e.g. fire, legionella, meter readings, emergency lighting, etc.
• Carrying out maintenance work such as painting & decorating, basic plumbing and carpentry work.
• Supervising and monitoring of contractors, ensuring safe systems of work are in place.
• Following and promoting a strong Health and Safety culture

Working as part of the pastoral provision, you will plan and deliver targeted interventions to identified KS4 students who need additional support. You’ll be working with them to maintain high expectations and identify their own personal aspirations. You’ll support these students when they work independently on their core subjects, and provide mentoring interventions. At times, you may need to accompany students to off site activities.

About you

You’ll be a proactive and resourceful person who is committed to securing high standards for all young people. You will have up to date knowledge and be able to demonstrate commitment to recent training related to SEND interventions, or literacy or numeracy. You will be someone with good communication and organisational skills that will include dealing with parents, outside agencies and the students. You will be someone with endless supplies of compassion and patience as well as the confidence to work with secondary students in KS4.

A good standard of Education with English and Maths as well as experience of working with young people with SEND is essential. SEND specific qualifications are desirable.

About the role

You’ll provide critical support to individuals and groups of students whilst they undertake a range of educational activities. You will be dealing with very specialised needs, using your skills and experience to assist pupils in their learning environment. You’ll work closely with the teachers to monitor the students progress and development.

About you

You will have demonstrable experience in supporting pupils with ASD and learning difficulties. You’ll need to be confident, adaptable and personable so as to make a great role model and be able to think on your feet. A team player is key although you’ll need to be comfortable with working independently and able to cope under pressure.

The Access Centre based at Lyde Green Primary School is a specialist facility dedicated to students who have a primary diagnosis of ASC along with complex learning needs. The Access Centre will provide bespoke and expert provision to enable them to make progress. There are no expectations for our pupils to have any inclusion with the main school although we have this luxury should we feel it appropriate for individuals.

The Learning Support Assistant role at The Castle school offers variety and challenge. Within this role you will be working within a strong team of staff who are focused on supporting teaching and learning within the classroom to benefit all students with additional needs. Your role outside the classroom is also key, as you will be liaising with parents and carers and developing and reviewing individual learning plans for a small group of students.

About you
