Esteem North Academy is seeking an additional flexible, committed, enthusiastic and highly skilled STLA to assist permanently excluded pupils, or those at risk of exclusion, with learning and engagement at our High Peak site. This site educates primary aged children from reception to year 6.

The academy provides statutory education to children who are at risk of, or have been, permanently excluded. Pupils who attend the academy have challenging and often complex needs, and exhibit behaviours that prevent them from attending a mainstream school. You will be allocated to a tutor group. The role will involve supporting pupils in lessons to engage in their learning and supporting pupils at break and lunch times. This role will involve working with small groups, or with pupils on a one to one basis to meet their needs as directed by the class teacher or site lead. Classes are small with approximately 2 to 7 pupils. There may be some daily home tuition when this is required to meet pupils needs.

Applicants should have good knowledge and experience of working with disaffected pupils in a school or other alternative setting. Esteem North Academy is seeking a flexible, committed, enthusiastic and highly skilled Intervention Assistant, to deliver phonics, literacy and reading interventions at our new Chesterfield site. The academy provides statutory education to children who are at risk of, or have been, permanently excluded. Pupils who attend the academy have challenging and often complex needs, and exhibit behaviours that prevent them from attending a mainstream school. A significant majority are weak readers with reading ages well below their chronological age.

The successful candidate will identify pupils at KS3 and 4 who require reading intervention, deliver a variety of strategies and record and monitor progress and impact. Pupils will be supported to develop their reading ability so that they can access the rest of their curriculum and be a functional member of society when they leave our academy.

Applicants should have good knowledge and experience of working with Read Write Inc Fresh Start or of another Phonics programme. An affinity for pupils with behaviour, emotional and social difficulties is an essential quality for this challenging but rewarding opportunity. The successful candidates will inspire, motivate, and support pupils to reach their full potential, by providing education at off-site venues or pupil’s home. We have developed a variety of bespoke learning pathways to meet the needs of our pupils. This role is to ensure that all pupils receive an education even if they are not school site or group ready.

Applicants should have good knowledge and experience of working with disaffected pupils in KS3 and 4 in a school or other alternative setting. An affinity for pupils with behaviour, emotional and social difficulties is an essential quality for this challenging but rewarding opportunity. Applicants should be resilient, have high expectations, and a sense of humour. You will be working in pupil’s homes and so must be able to build relationships with families and other external agencies. This post will involve lone working.

The role will have an allocated base where mileage will be calculated from. Mileage is claimed for this role monthly in arrears. The role will involve supporting pupils in lessons to engage in their learning and supporting pupils at break and lunch times. This role will involve working with small groups, or with pupils on a one to one basis to meet their needs as directed by the class teacher or site lead. Classes are small with approximately 10 pupils. This new site will open with a new staffing team and therefore your ability to cooperate as a team player is essential. You will be involved with the setting up and opening of the new site. The new site may house approximately 100 pupils over time.

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant (Level 2) to work alongside and under the guidance of the SENDCo to support individual students and small groups.

This exciting and rewarding role requires someone who is patient, flexible, adaptable and a team player and who is also able to show initiative both in the class situation and with groups/individuals.
