About This Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading School of Music as a Lecturer in Violin. The position is designed for a violinist to build on their record of achievement in teaching, performance, research, service and engagement at a world top-50 university. The successful candidate will engage in internal and external collaborations that influence teaching practices, policies, and/or knowledge.
Key responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to:
Teaching
Demonstrate a record of effective contribution to a range of teaching responsibilities including 1:1 violin lessons, chamber music, and side-by-side ensemble activity.
Coordinate courses, prepare and deliver workshops and ensemble classes, and undertake assessment and marking for undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
Performance and Research
Be developing an active record of producing high quality music performance and research activity consistent with discipline norms, including national and international performances, artistic, non-traditional or creative works research outputs, or publications in research journals or other appropriate outlets.
Take an active role in obtaining funding to support collaborative projects and activities.
Supervision and Researcher Development
Act as Principal Supervisor for undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
Citizenship and Service
Participate in the UQ Chamber Academy and other outreach and recruitment initiatives.
Perform a range of internal service roles and processes, including high level of collaboration and participation in decision-making and service on relevant committees.
Advance external links and partnerships by collaborating on external activities and sustain relationships with industry, government departments, professional bodies and the wider community.

This is a teaching focused position. Further information can be found by viewing UQ’s Criteria for Academic Performance.
This is a full-time, continuing position at Academic Level B. The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $104,579 - $124,287 plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $122,358 - $145,299 annually. As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases – at least once a year.

About You
The successful candidate for this position will possess:
Completion of a PhD or DMA (Doctor of Musical Arts) in a relevant music discipline, and experience working in a tertiary music setting.
An established profile in teaching, including national recognition and a developing international profile.
Evidence of high-quality teaching at undergraduate, honours and postgraduate level across a variety of settings, including small and large groups.
A track record of participation in the development and continuous innovation of new programs, curriculum design and course material in the discipline area.
An established profile in performance including national recognition and a developing international profile. This activity will ideally extend into an established record of innovative approaches to performance, non-traditional research outputs, and may include traditional research publications.
Evidence of successfully seeking, obtaining and managing external funding for performance or research activity.
Evidence of successful supervision of independent student research and project activity to successful completion.
Evidence of meaningful service within institutions and to the discipline.
About the Selection Process
As part of the selection process, applicants shortlisted for interview will be required to present a performance and presentation about their creative work and give a teaching masterclass or demonstration prior to their scheduled interview.
