Key Duties and Responsibilities
As the Senior Director, Public Policy you will be leading STT GDC’s public policy strategy, government relations, and economic development initiatives. You will serve as the primary liaison between the company and government bodies, industry associations, and other stakeholders. Your role will include driving policy advocacy efforts to support STT GDC’s business objectives and ensure compliance.
Policy Development & Advocacy:
- Develop and implement public policy strategies that align with STTGDC’s business goals.
- Advocate for favourable policies and regulatory frameworks that promote the growth and sustainability of the data centre industry.
- Monitor and analyse relevant legislative and regulatory developments at local, regional, and international levels.
Government Relations:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with government officials, policymakers, and regulatory bodies.
- Represent STTGDC in meetings with government entities and participate in public consultations.
- Coordinate and manage interactions with legislative and regulatory agencies.
Economic Development:
- Identify and promote opportunities for economic development that benefit both STTGDC and the broader community.
- Collaborate with internal teams to support the development and expansion of data centre facilities.
- Work with local and regional economic development agencies to secure incentives and partnerships.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Engage with industry associations, think tanks, and other organizations to influence public policy and regulatory outcomes.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key industry stakeholders, including trade groups and non-governmental organizations.
- Represent STT GDC in public forums, industry events, and conferences.
Research & Analysis:
- Conduct research on public policy issues affecting the data centre industry.
- Prepare reports, position papers, and presentations to communicate policy positions to internal and external audiences.
- Provide insights and recommendations to senior management on public policy and regulatory matters.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Law, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Master's degree or higher is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in public policy, government relations, or related roles.
- Proven record of accomplishment in developing and implementing public policy strategies.
- Experience working in the technology, telecommunications, or data center industry is highly desirable.
- Proficient in using relevant software and tools for policy analysis and research.
- Strong understanding of regulatory processes and government affairs.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to influence and drive outcomes.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Prominent level of integrity and professionalism.
- Ability to travel as needed for meetings with government officials, stakeholders, and industry events.
