This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Theatre Technician to join Shakespeare North Playhouse’s Production and Technical department, supporting a bold creative programme inspired by Prescot’s historic connections to William Shakespeare and a real love of story-telling.

Reporting to the Technical Manager, the post-holder will be a key operational member of the Production and Technical team, taking responsibility for operating equipment in technical areas within the theatre, performance, and event spaces to ensure the smooth running of Shakespeare North’s productions, workshops, and events. They will work on all technical aspects of the production, events and learning programmes as required and will at times act as duty technician, building duty manager and will need to work with and supervise casual, freelance and contractor staff as scheduled by The Head of Production or the Technical Manager. This is a varied role working in the Cockpit Theatre, a traditional 470 seat timber framed Shakespearean theatre, The Sir Ken Dodd Performance Garden and The Studio as well as supporting events across the building.

We are looking for a Head Chef to join us in the summer of 2024 to continue to develop the catering offer at Shakespeare North Playhouse. They will be the driving force in our kitchen and will lead on the day-to-day Bar & Kitchen offer and service and oversee event and corporate hospitality.

This is an exciting time to be joining the team as we look to develop the kitchen and our food and beverage offer over the coming months. This role will play a pivotal part in these developments and changes.

The Head Chef will oversee the kitchen on a day-to-day basis. Leading and motivating the team to ensure the kitchen always runs smoothly.

We have a small team and the Head Chef will need to have a hands on role in the kitchen during prep and service. They will oversee ordering, stock control, planning and food safety management. Together with the team they will develop an exciting and sustainable menu for our Bar & Kitchen and Event hospitality offer.

Working alongside the Technical Manager, the post-holder will take responsibility for the delivery of the Lighting and Sound requirements within the theatre, performance, and event spaces to ensure the smooth running of Shakespeare North’s productions, workshops, and events and be a key operational member of the Production and Technical team.

Specialising in production lighting and sound you will work on all technical aspects of the Co-Productions, Received Work, Events and Engagement Programmes as required and will at times act as duty technician, building duty manager and will need to work with and supervise casual, freelance and contractor staff as scheduled by The Head of Production or the Technical Manager.

Specialising in production staging and flys you will work on all technical aspects of the Co-Productions, Received Work, Events and Engagement Programmes as required and will at times act as duty technician, building duty manager and will need to work with and supervise casual, freelance and contractor staff as scheduled by The Head of Production or the Technical Manager.
