Role Overview

We are looking for a project engineer within the commissioning business unit the successful candidate will have experience of managing a scope of work from pre operations from concept to completion, with a construction background, and a good understanding of procurement activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager with day-to-day activities required to deliver work in line with the project plan including safety, quality, schedule, and cost objectives. Working with and supporting a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a common objective.
• Working with the Project Manager to define the work scope to be delivered within the contract or package of work and the interfaces to the other elements of the programme.

Monitor and manage the progress of the programme - track progress against milestones, deadlines, budget and provide key stakeholders with reports on these matters.
• Anticipate, manage and resolve issues within the contract or package. Identify risks and facilitate the resolution of all issues raised, develop and update the programme budget, and escalate any issues to the Project Manager

Job Purpose / Overview

The Fire Safety Advisor is part of a team of specialist fire safety and compliance professionals reporting to the Fire Safety Manager.

The main purpose of the job is to provide advice and guidance on fire safety matters to the Principal Contractor to ensure fire safety standards are set and assure the maintenance of these standards across the project.

The post holder will also support and promote the development of a positive Fire safety culture amongst a wide array of Contractors and stakeholders, support the development and implementation of fire safety systems and policies, performing audits and inspections, undertaking fire risk assessments, report on fire safety maters to relevant personnel and committees, supporting the on-site Fire & Rescue Team with the provision of risk information and support the continual improvement of Fire safety arrangements and systems on the construction site.

The Fire Safety Team manages Fire Safety for the Construction Site and audits and assures Fire Safety standards are met and maintained throughout the project. The team work closely with the construction and delivery teams as well as the site contractors.

Principal Accountabilities

• To provide fire safety advice and guidance to the Principal Contractor, wider Contractor base and relevant committees.
• Support the development of fire safety arrangements (both general and process related) and procedures that meet legislative requirements and follow best practice.
• To develop, maintain, and review the implementation of the Principal Contractors fire safety policy, fire management arrangements and fire risk assessments, in conjunction with the multitude of other contractors, as part of the process of ensuring legal compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
• To provide Fire Safety advice to Project Managers and design teams, to develop building fire strategies.

• To undertake Fire Safety Assurance Audits, Inspections and other monitoring activities of both controlled areas and all site contractors to ensure compliance with site Fire Safety Standards and UK legislation.
• To carry out suitable and sufficient fire risk assessments on behalf of the Principal Contractor.
• Review Fire Risk Assessments carried out by other organisations concerned with the construction project.

Dimensions

This position will be responsible for fire safety within an allocated area but will also be required to support the wider team and other generic areas of site. The role will be required to be self-motivated and autonomous, utilising their own initiative and knowledge to give dynamic advice and guidance on fire safety related matters.

This position will work closely with other members of the Fire Safety Team as well as the wider Emergency Preparedness & Response Teams to maintain adequate fire safety standards across the HPC project.

Whilst the working hours are predominantly weekday daytime hours, there is an expectation for flexibility within these hours to enable early and late cover as well as weekend and evening / night time work activities as and when required.

Job Purpose/Overview:

This role is required to support oversight, advice and delivery arrangements for work with ionising radiation at construction site. The role will involve task observation, writing and reviewing radiation risk assessments, local rules and contingency plans; setting, and maintaining oversight of the radiological safety standards on the construction site and providing expert advice on how work with ionising radiation should be executed safely and compliantly. To cover the scope of work, the role holder will work closely within a team that includes a Radiography Co-ordinator and several Radiation Protection Technicians that facilitate the delivery of radiography work & radioactive source management.

The Radiological Protection Engineer, will take an overview of radiological performance in delivering the Construction plan for work with ionising radiation across nuclear site and have a broad understanding of all the relevant legislation and standards relevant to the work being undertaken, ensuring compliance and risk reduction to delivered safely and with the required quality. As well as monitoring current work, the role holder will develop future arrangements for work. Anticipating future risk and being proactive in managing them. They will also need to play an active role in the bigger Delivery team and represent the Principal Contractor with a strong delivery focus.

Contextual Information:

The Radiological Protection Engineer will undertake a range of monitoring, coordination, planning, communication, reporting, advice, guidance and support activities which focus on establishing, promoting, maintaining, and continually improving the CDM (Construction, Design and Management) Principal Contractor management arrangements to attain construction excellence .

The Radiological Protection Engineer will develop and maintain a 'one-team' working relationship with all key project stakeholders always providing clear communication to support surrounding departments and programme teams. They are responsible for working closely as a team with the Radiography support section supporting as required by the delivery plan.

As part of a small specialist team , the role will require regular out of hours attendance to take part in the site permit system and authorising, as well as observing work.

Principal Accountabilities:

This role will be the main contributor to the functional management of radiological safety performance, monitoring, reporting and cooperating with other functions and contractors. They will have a strong teamwork and delivery performance being able to plan and prioritise work adapting to a rapidly changing work landscape. They shall promote an open learning environment, leading to continuous improvement and delivery to safety, quality, time and cost constraints.

They will interface with a range of external regulators, senior takeholders including the Pre-ops organisation which will deliver the Operating power station organisation, systems and processes.

The role holder will either have currently or be able to obtain certificate of competence as an RPA and to be able to offer and help implement pragmatic arrangements within a framework of regulatory and business requirements.

Dimensions:

The Radiological Protection Engineer is responsible for ensuring the high performance of the radiological protection safety on site and delivering future arrangements as the Site moves from Construction towards Operations through Commissioning. Through detailed knowledge and building trusting relationships, the role holder will be able influence work to ensure it is carried out to national, international requirements.

They will work in the Environment, Health, Safety and Emergency Planning team and have wider links to subject matter experts, construction delivery and the contractors delivering radiography. They will champion learning and taking time to work ad-hoc shifts to ensure work is being carried out to the expectations required.

Out of hours work is required to ensure the Site Team supports construction delivery safely.

Knowledge and Skills:

Knowledge of work under IRR2017, HASS permits, Safeguards and handling of radioactive sources including unsealed material. Able to write and implement arrangements for the safe and compliant work with radioactive material including source management, dosimetry, risk assessment, local rules and contingency plans. Use human factors to minimise risks. Deliver training and briefing. Excellent planning, delivery and interpersonal skills. Accurate and methodical. Capable use of I.T. and a desire to work out on site with a variety of construction parties. Capability to carry out shielding calculations. Job Purpose / Overview

The Mechanical, Electrical and HVAC (MEH) Programme operates as an alliance between client and four five main installation partners. We work as one team with a single purpose which is to deliver the pipework, cables, and ductwork, that will bring the Hinkley Point C power station to life.

The MEH Project Office Support is responsible for assisting the MEH Project Office team in implementing communication tools that will improve productivity and efficiency within the organisation, and consolidating information that will enable the team to work more effectively. This role involves collaborating with various functions to achieve goals such as producing presentations, facilitating online webinars, developing engaging content, and organising corporate events.

Operating Environment

MEH is a rapidly evolving organisation. As such, the post holder must be capable of operating in an environment that is undergoing rapid change. They will be responsible for executing communications and engagement initiatives set by the department, aligning with the overarching HPC strategic messaging.

Framework & Boundaries

The MEH Project Office Support operates as a member of the MEH Project Office and supports the Communications Advisor in delivering engaging communications content. They will work very closely with other MEH senior stakeholders to meet business support needs, including maintaining distribution lists, preparing weekly highlights/briefs, developing slidepacks, and updating organisational charts.

Principal Accountabilities

• Curate and coordinate regular publications (e.g., weekly highlights, quarterly newsletters).
• Design and maintain content on intranet sites and social media channels.
• Engage with HPC and MEH partner comms reps to provide updates on construction progress and good news stories.

This will include providing critical input during commissioning to support our preparations for operation. • Analyse commissioning results and provide reports summarising the outcome of commissioning.
