Pact have secured funding from the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) to deliver a dedicated community mentoring
service in London. The role will provide a mentoring service for male service users on community sentences, aiming to address
their thinking, behaviour, and attitudes while also providing practical assistance.



The role will work alongside Integrated Offender Management (IOM) who oversee the most persistent and repeat offenders. The
overall aim of the IOM mentoring service is to help reduce reoffending from IOM cases seen by the service due to complex needs.
This will be achieved through the following outcomes:

* Addressing thinking, behaviour, and attitudes that contribute to offending;
* Improving engagement, motivation, and trust;
* Removing short-term barriers and supporting long-term change;

The Mentoring Manager is responsible for managing personal and team performance against service delivery targets, working in
collaboration with MOPAC and Contract Managers to evidence delivery and outcomes. The role will oversee the work of two full time
mentors working across London as well as providing support for a small cohort of service users.




The role will also be responsible for overseeing the recruitment, training and vetting a small pool of volunteers dedicated to
this service. Supported by our national volunteering infrastructure and resources, this post will ensure Volunteer Mentors are
appropriately allocated and supported to deliver this community mentoring service for People on community sentences.

Role overview

The Case Manager will manage a caseload of Prisoners in prison, supporting them to break down barriers to successful resettlement,
achieve agreed milestones and enter employment, training or education. Engage eligible Prisoners, provide initial assessment and
undertake action planning to prisoners being released from in-scope prisons. Provide advice, guidance, coaching, mentoring and
support to a caseload of participants via regular one-to-one meetings and group interventions as appropriate.

Pact’s Case Managers support Prisoners in custody to prepare for release and successfully resettle into their local communities.
They will support the delivery of the NOMS CFO Programme providing practical help, advice and guidance, as well as motivation and
understanding. Providing support for individuals with multiple and complex needs to overcome barriers and progress towards
education, training and employment.



About you:



Experience of working with hard-to- reach demographics in challenging environments.

Ability to work to targets on a monthly basis. Excellent IT skills (this is a paperless contract using a case management system).
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a pilot project across 9 women’s prisons supporting women with their family ties
three months pre-release and a minimum of two weeks post-release; linking them into ongoing provision within the community.



As a Lead Family Resettlement Worker, you will lead and deliver a service that ensures prisoners, their children, carers and other
relatives have access to appropriate advice, guidance, learning opportunities, care and support to better enable them
to maintain or enhance positive relationships

 

You will assist in developing referral pathways for families, prisoners and other professionals to access the service working in
partnership with existing family service providers operating within the prison.  You will co-design a person-centred Relationship
Care Plan with women accessing support, enabling you to support them to address their family and relationship needs as they
prepare for release. The role will combine a casework- based approach with delivery of programmes and courses, along with a
signposting and advice service for the women in custody and their families.



You will build strong relationships with Probation Practitioners to ensure referrals to further family support via the Probation
Women’s Services providers are made pre-release to support a seamless handover. This, together with referrals to wider partner
organisations in the community, will ensure additional support needs are addressed post-release and continuity of support exists.

To be successful in this role you will have demonstrable experience and understanding of working with families in a challenging
multi-agency environment, ideally working with prisoners and/or their families.

 

You will have the ability to advocate for families dealing with imprisonment, promoting their human rights and ensuring their
needs are considered, and views are heard at all levels. You will have the ability to develop referral pathways for
families, prisoners and other professionals to access the service and ensure effective support for women post-release.



In addition, you will possess excellent organisational skills, excellent communication skills and be able to work in
a prison environment whilst remaining calm. As the sole Pact worker on site, you will need to work independently, developing
partnerships and relationships across the estate. Furthermore, you will act as an ambassador for Pact, conducting yourself
professionally at all times, with high standards of personal integrity and accountability.

As a Lead Family Resettlement Worker, you will lead and deliver a service that ensures prisoners, their children, carers and other
relatives have access to appropriate advice, guidance, learning opportunities, care and support to better enable them
to maintain or enhance positive relationships

 

You will assist in developing referral pathways for families, prisoners and other professionals to access the service working in
partnership with existing family service providers operating within the prison.  You will co-design a person-centred Relationship
Care Plan with women accessing support, enabling you to support them to address their family and relationship needs as they
prepare for release. The role will combine a casework- based approach with delivery of programmes and courses, along with a
signposting and advice service for the women in custody and their families.



You will build strong relationships with Probation Practitioners to ensure referrals to further family support via the Probation
Women’s Services providers are made pre-release to support a seamless handover. This, together with referrals to wider partner
organisations in the community, will ensure additional support needs are addressed post-release and continuity of support exists.

About You:

 

To be successful in this role you will have demonstrable experience and understanding of working with families in a challenging
multi-agency environment, ideally working with prisoners and/or their families.

 

You will have the ability to advocate for families dealing with imprisonment, promoting their human rights and ensuring their
needs are considered, and views are heard at all levels. You will have the ability to develop referral pathways for
families, prisoners and other professionals to access the service and ensure effective support for women post-release.



In addition, you will possess excellent organisational skills, excellent communication skills and be able to work in
a prison environment whilst remaining calm. As the sole Pact worker on site, you will need to work independently, developing
partnerships and relationships across the estate. Furthermore, you will act as an ambassador for Pact, conducting yourself
professionally at all times, with high standards of personal integrity and accountability.




Ownership of a car for this role is desirable, though not essential.

About the role




A great opportunity has arisen for an experienced professional to join Pact as we start delivering a new community-based service
supporting people with convictions to improve their personal wellbeing and strengthen family relationships.




One-to-one support will be core to the service including building trust and undertaking activities and interventions that meet the
needs of each individual. You will also deliver group sessions and workshops to support the development of skills and strategies
such as communication, resilience, negotiation and assertiveness skills; confident and responsible parenting behaviours and
positive coping strategies. You will be responsible for working towards service delivery targets and providing information to
evidence outcomes achieved. Working with other professionals in partnership delivery will also be key.

Pact's innovative Routes2Change project, is a groundbreaking service that adopts a “relationships first” approach. Its aim is to
deliver a comprehensive end-to-end integrated rehabilitation and resettlement support programme to the young men from their first,
daunting night in custody, to up to six months following their release from prison. The primary focus is on supporting the young
men to appreciate and develop healthy relationships with their families or other important social structures. Working closely with
the prison and other agencies, the service is fully integrated into sentence and release planning and is delivered both in custody
and in the community through intensive personal support and befriending, visit services, groupwork, and targeted children’s
